Hi everyone. Today I want to share with you a beautiful interview to Freddie Mercury: American reporter Sue Byrom talks with him in this article, titled Queen in America: hot, happy & husky and included at the time on a music magazine called National Rockstar, published on 26th February 1977. Byrom approached Mercury in his suite at the Waldorf Towers in Manhattan, New York City (today the hotel is called Waldorf -Astoria); Queen just played their first ever concert at Madison Square Garden in front of 20,000 people and are preparing for two consecutive gigs at the Los Angeles Forum; it is emphasized that the interview took place on a day off for the band and is therefore likely to have taken place on 7th February 1977. Byrom interviews Freddie on several points, first of all the recent concert at Madison Square Garden, focusing on John Rockwell's review that appeared in the New York Times - Rockwell writes in his review that Freddie imitated Mick Jagger on stage and Mercury claims that Jagger actually attended the concert; the two then talk about the new album 'A Day At The Races', its contents and the numerous negative reviews from various journalists, especially British ones. The interview concludes by talking about Queen's future projects, including a hypothetical UK tour (which actually took place between May and June) and the band's new album. Enjoy!
