Hi everyone.
Today I would like to share this Spanish article with you; titled "QUEEN", GRUPO REVELACION DE 1974 (translated as "QUEEN", BREAKING GROUP OF 1974) was released in Disco Expres magazine shortly after the release of 'Queen II' in 1974 (the album was released in Spain in April 1974).
The journalist who wrote these lines talks about Queen's new album, comparing it to their debut album; he claims that the second album is more complex than the previous one and that the second side in particular contains important songs. Below is the original article and my translation. Enjoy the reading!
"QUEEN", BREAKING GROUP OF 1974
When their first album appeared, English critics considered them one of the groups with the greatest future in the musical panorama. Their second LP, simply titled "Queen II", which has just been released in Spain, served to confirm that favorable opinion of a promising group, to be considered one of the most positive realities in current music. With this "Queen II", Queen has managed to reach number one on the always difficult English charts, while slowly climbing the American charts. This explosion of successes is justified by the differences that can be seen in his work from the first to the second album. If in the first one, "Queen" was an explosion of good ideas, but most of them unfinished and a mix of styles, in this second LP the four members of the group have put all their fantastic ideas in perfect order, coming up with their own style, staff. His extraordinary vocal game, his instrumental mastery, have improved significantly since his first recording foray. Of this second LP we can highlight the second side, the B, which Queen calls "black", in which there are very important songs. The four elements of Queen are: Freddie Mercury, lead vocals, organ and leader of the group; Brian May, vocals, guitar and piano; Deacon John, bass and Roger Meddows, vocals and drums.
