Compile your own "greatest" Queen LP there's only a few rules:
♦ No UK/USA top 40 singles allowed ♦ Maximum "LP" runtime = 45minutes - this was the normal maximum for vinyl LPs
here's mine
SIDE ONE ♦ Liar [6'25"] ♦ Father To Son [6'13"] ♦ Drowse [3'45"] ♦ Funny How Love Is [2'51"] ♦ It's A Beautiful Day (reprise) [3'01"]
SIDE TWO ♦ It's Late [6'27"] ♦ March of the Black Queen [6'32"] ♦ Nevermore [1'18"] ♦ Rock It (Prime Jive) [4'33"] ♦ Fun It [3'28"]
Total playing time : 41'33"
I've deliberately left off one of my favourite tracks (My Fairy King) to give it each side a bit more balance
Pre-album single release: A Human Body b/w Was It All Worth It

I can't calculate times (😳) but here goes:
Side One:
Death On Two Legs (3:41) Flick Of The Wrist (3:23) Long Away (3:30) Millionaire Waltz (4:54) Need Your Loving Tonight (2:47) Dragon Attack (4:18)
Side Two:
Spread Your Wings (BBC Version) (5:25) White Man (4:58) Nevermore (1:24) It's Late (6:25) Was It All Worth It (5:51)
I think that totals about 43 minutes.

SIDE ONE ♦ Death on Two Legs [3:43] ♦ White Queen [4:34] ♦ Doing Alright [4:10] ♦ Great King Rat [5:41] ♦ White Man [4:59]
SIDE TWO ♦ Let Me Entertain You [3:01] ♦ We Will Rock You (BBC/Fast Guitar Version) [length unknown] ♦ Tenement Funster [2:48] ♦ Flick of the Wrist [3:19] ♦ Teo Torriate [5:54]
Total playing time: + or - 41:40
Notes: WWRY was a USA/UK Top 40 single, but as I'm including the BBC version instead, hopefully it's acceptable (if not I'll replace it). I've tried to sequence the songs as best I could in regards to 'flow'.

This was fucking impossible.
SIDE ONE (21:50): Rock It (Prime Jive) (4:33) Made in Heaven (5:25) Long Away (3:34) Spread Your Wings (4:34) I Go Crazy (3:43)
SIDE TWO (23:04): You and I (3:26) Don't Try So Hard (3:39) It's Late (6:28) A Human Body (3:44) Was It All Worth It (5:48)
Running time: 44:54 (just made it!)
I tried to give each band member equal credits (Freddie kinda sorta technically wrote Don't Try So Hard and Was It All Worth It), and this omits a lot of my favorites, but I tried to make an album that flowed pretty well with enough light and shade. I could tinker with this all day so I'll leave it as-is.

This was fucking impossible. Spread Your Wings (4:34) this was a top-40 charter in the UK - reaching no34 Note: for other posters, even though the !st EP peaked at no17, it wasn't a 7" single release

Note: for other posters, even though the !st EP peaked at no17, it wasn't a 7" single release Ooh, that's a bit of a technical loophole! I'd have said GOFL would be considered a chart single, reaching the top 20 (#17 to be precise) in the UK. 🙂 Also, although I chose it myself, Flick Of The Wrist was a double A side with Killer Queen, so should that be allowed?

Hard to do on mobile with waning recall of the bands music. But I'll try. No top 40 u say. Please correct me if any appear as a b side etc Procession Son And Daughter Father To Son You and I The Millionaire Waltz Nevermore Prophets Song Love of My Life Let Me Entertain You (*I'd have to remix it) Fight From the Inside My Life Has Been Saved Oh fuck I GO CRAZY was a bside of a #1.. Well...I tried. Didn't cheat either. No "live from ____versions in the archive" Tough job

Hang on, an album can have ONE single on it, surely? a number of classic rock bands usually released albums without singles: Zep, Floyd, Genesis, Yes, and the Beatles did it for a large chunk of their LPs too. but if you need to add a single: you've 11 (non-top 40) releases to choose from Hard to do on mobile with waning recall of the bands music. But I'll try. No top 40 u say. Please correct me if any appear as a b side etc Tough job the B-sides were not the hits - so you're okay selecting them

Sorry to be pedantic, but the first EP was indeed a 7" 45rpm single release not a bit of it. SP = Single Play : one track per side whatever the dimension of the vinyl, 7-inch or 12-inch EP = Extended Play : a 7-inch vinyl record - 45rpm with more than 2 tracks LP = Long Play : a 12-inch album or 33rpm vinyl.

Revisited 3:45 Great list, but I seem to recall You Don't Fool Me was released to some fanfare with multiple mixes. No idea if it charted... having a terrible allergy episode haha. That's why I omitted it at least. Rules indicated no TOP 40 singles. So maybe it went below

If Queen put the EP in the singles boxset, then it's a single. If QPL say it, it must be right. Right?

If Queen put the EP in the singles boxset, then it's a single. If QPL say it, it must be right. Right? Right? so if a cow lives in a stable it's a horse? the title of the 7" is Queen's First EP. So it's an EP. I'd say that's pretty conclusive.

Synths Era: It's a Beautiful Day (2:32) Made in Heaven (5:25) Action This Day (3:22)Rain Must Fall (4:20) I Go Crazy (3:44) No Synths Era: March of the Black Queen (6:33) The Millionaire's Waltz (4:54) Who Needs You (3:05) Good Company (3:26) Liar (6:24) Total Time ~ 44 minutesI just realized that my "Greatest Album" was too short, and that I short-changed Roger ... So I added Action this Day (and added times to all songs to make sure it was under 45 minutes).
