It has to be Freddie, it has his 2 trademarks:
1. arpeggiating left hand octaves 2. playing 2 or 3 quickly repeated chords off the beat in the higher register to enrich the sound
He always did these 2 things on the piano, both in studio and on stage. The piano playing on stage during this song was in a very similar manner to what we're hearing here.

Thx. Amazing.
Sounds like a valid answer.
But then again. This band is always better then i thought.
Had suspicion they had flown in Mike Moran.

On the video it is John because Freddie was too drunk, but about the Raw version, I have no idea, maybe Freddie or Spike Edney?

John “played” the opening section on the video as a nod to the fact he wrote the song. You may have noticed on the video no one played piano after John starts playing Bass. It made no difference if Freddie was drunk or not, you do realise that videos are mimed to the original recording.

In the studio session Freddie is playing. So I guess Freddie.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "videos are mixed with different takes" - just for clarity's sake: any audio recorded when filming the video would be discarded. It's just the audio of the album or single versions dubbed over the video. The performance is mimed.

What I find interesting about the Spread Your Wings music video is that this is the second promo video that Queen made that features John playing piano (the first was You're My Best Friend). At this point in 1978, Freddie also was seen playing piano in only two songs (Bohemian Rhapsody and Somebody To Love). If you were a general music fan as in just watching TV, you may be thinking that John played as much piano as Freddie did...

JD did play electric piano on the studio version of YMBF but yes, I can understand your last point. Although the vocals start very soon after the piano introduction on SYW, FM could have been shown playing piano at the start of the promo vid., then have him stand up to sing the bulk of the song (a similar approach to that taken in the BR vid.).

Yeah, it's just that in the video for YMBF, it's a grand piano featured and not an electric piano so that's why I said that but you probably guessed. My take of it is that Freddie was meant to play piano in the video for SYW but he was drunk and wasn't that co-operative. I suppose in Queen history it was quite an important day as they signed the severance agreement with John Reid that day in the back of Freddie's Rolls Royce. Maybe he was just in a good mood?!! But seriously it was a cold day so he might've just been grumpy to do more than was required. Also, he's seen wearing gloves, would he have had to take them off to play piano? John and Brian were not wearing gloves to play guitar so that could explain why John played piano...
