He seems in quite a 'reflective' mood. It must evoke a lifetime of memories for him.

I'm most interested in hearing the transition from Great King Rat to Mad The Swine and to My Fairy King. I mean Mad The Swine in the right order. Of course, the mix is also interesting to check out. And of course, the divine Hangman, too, no doubt. Me too. It's hard to imagine a non-fadeout snare at the end of GKR transitioning smoothly into the start of MTS, even if they've restored the missing 'I've', which we all assume was cut. Unless, of course, there is no segue, and GKR still fades out with a gap before MTS. The transition from MTS to MFK is obvious from what we've already heard.

I'm not an expert in such matters, but what's the difference between a soundboard recording and what we hear, for example, in official releases (without mentioning the word autotune and so on)? I'm just curious how satisfactory the quality of soundboards recordings is. It's just incredibly interesting to hear Hangman from a concert that is not available online.I wonder if we'll live to listening to the full 1976 San Diego concert.

I'm still wondering why the single cover is so cropped.

I'm still wondering why the single cover is so cropped. It's a bit lazy but someone obviously thought it was a good idea. Not something significant to complain about though, IMO.

Soundboards are just what comes out the mixing board to go out over the PA from what I understand, so it should be very high quality, it won't sound as large as a multitrack recording would since it'll have no aud mics.

Hello.
Those of you who had already bought the single of "The night comes down", is there anyone who has bought it on queenonline or another store?
I contacted the queenonline store weeks ago and asked them which products from the new release were exclusive to their store. Although it may seem impossible to believe, they responded that they did not have that information. I asked them, but they didn't clarify it for me. I have searched Amazon stores in different countries but I don't see that the single is for sale.

The soundboard recording is mono or stereo, and cannot be remixed (at least, that was the case until a couple years ago). Official releases are typically from multi-track recordings where each of the 16/24/32 tracks can be manipulated separately. ...although with the AI machine learning technology we now have, we can separate the frequencies of specific instruments with minimal digital artifacts.

Soundboards are just what comes out the mixing board to go out over the PA from what I understand Not necessarily - it depends on how things are cabled up. Sometimes it's just the front of house mix sent to a tape machine, but sometimes the mixing board can send an entirely different auxiliary mix to tape (if the board is equipped to do so).

I was visiting family in the UK this past week and took time out to go to any and all record stores in Liverpool and York. The Def Leppard just like 73 single was 19.99 in both stores that carried it, so I passed. Seems ridiculous prices for singles is the norm now. Was hoping to see TNCD but it does appear to be a Queen online exclusive. I don't think Rogers live album made it to stores either. I ended up buying 10 LPs to bring back to Canada, One new (Bob Catley The Tower for 38 Quid, an impulse purchase, didnt know it had been re released) and 9 used for 39 Quid. So 77 Quid in total. Doubt I'd get change from $150 for the used ones at home and there can't be many of the Bob Catleys that have made it into Canada. Number 463 of 500. A good trip. Oh and nice to see family too of course.

Just got back from convention (early). Unfortunately Mad The Swine is exactly as we've heard it before, ie, it just drops in with "been here before". Greg says that's how it was recorded, so those old rumours that it segued from GKR with the drums and which necessitated the trimming of "I've" are incorrect. OR so we are to believe. Frankly it's a shame.
Don't ask how the songs he played sounded, the PA system is bass heavy making the drums as the predominant sound - which surely won't be right as Brian would never allow it!
No. The Imperial College tracks were NOT played.
There was very little said about the restoration/remixing of the album, no clues as to what the next one will be as they haven't decided anything yet (hmmm....), and, as expected, the book sounds like it is another book of photos with very lttle text, so again, nothing like the tome's that come with the Beatles Boxsets. Apparantly everything that was written for the book was removed, but will appear somewhere - most likely online I reckon. Such a shame. I bet xxxx would have loved for his work to be in printed format. I know I would.

Is that included in the book?

Frankly it's a shame. I 100% believe that. Mad The Swine's mix sounds absolutely nothing like anything else from 1973, and I've always thought this. Even listening to it alongside the 2011 remasters, the sound is super jarring. I always just assumed it was a new multi-track mix that they did for its release as a B-Side. That would make the "I've" theory redundant, as even if there was a GKR transition, the "I've" could just be added into the mix on its own. A new multitrack mix for 1991 would also make sense with the timeline as the 1991 bonus remixes of KYA and Liar were the same year, which means that was probably around the time that Queen's back catalogue of multi-tracks got digitized.

I have no idea what "will appear somewhere - most likely online" means... I can't imagine a format that would be better for such text than the book.

For a lot of people, this will be a dealbreaker, as the book in a box set is the right place to publish such things. Are they trying to lose buyers ?

Probably a dumb question, but wouldn’t it be possible to reverse engineer the “autotuned” vocals back to the original pitch by isolating the line itself? Rather than just copy and pasting the original vocal track? Considering that we have an extensive collection of the remixed material coming out, would it be that difficult? Just curious
