There are now over 600 people registered here in little over a month of this place's existence, and I'm thrilled to see how well everything has been going. But there's another website that's in need of a renaissance. The time has come for my beloved Queenlive.ca site to get a facelift. I've been thinking about it for years, but I was never able to pull the trigger largely because my knowledge of web design became increasingly obsolete. The site began as a college project nearly 20 years ago when frames were still a good idea. Some of you reading this were in diapers. I have some ideas, and am looking for someone to collaborate with who will be able to make it all come to life - ideally someone who is fluent in databases and various web design languages. And it'd be nice if it were someone who legitimately cares about the subject, which is why I've come here first. Obviously it's a paid gig. Serious inquiries only. PM me if need be. Thanks, friends.

I may be wrong, but I think Pim Derks does web design for a living or he's somehow related to the backend side of it at least. Just saying.

Seriously, no bites here?
All you young whiz kids who can Photoshop, video edit, and turn dust into pancakes - but no web designers ?

My knowledge is very limited I'm afraid I don't think I would be able to improve anymore than what is already there even though I learnt and even designed one website for IT at college.

I work in IT and I know all the basics of web design, but there's a gulf between that and creating a fully functional and pro-looking site, a simple one even. Time-consuming too!

Can you do database stuff too?

Can you do database stuff too? MySQL through PHP, yeah. But it was a long time ago and I would have so much catch-up to do. I don't even know if PHP is actually the gist of today's web tech, which should worry you as a potential customer! I have done a couple very basic sites (no database BTW) for people I know, and honestly they weren't worth writing home about. Anyway, there's no chance that I can get myself to focus and dedicate the time to build and polish a website, not with my schedule and current priorities. I am definitely not the person you're looking for!

One can accomplish a lot with a quarter of ass if one puts ones mind to it. I built a quality inspection database 25 years ago, but I have not implemented anything new in it for 15 years, as my boss thought it was a waste of my talents and insisted our inspectors should work on further development of "my" database instead of me. A few months ago, our QA manager (not my boss) wanted me to work on something in "my" database to make things easier for him. However, my database skills are so weak now, that it would be a major undertakig to relearn how to build semi-complex forms and reports that would be needed to help him, and so I don't have the time or patience to help him.

In the last few years, I moved from desktop development and now I'm working as a freelance backend developer (mostly PHP / Laravel), but I SUCK at frontend stuff.

Ah, if only I was more qualified! I have a great respect for what you've built up with your site, and I am a developer who works with databases for a living. Alas, it would be quite a stretch to describe me as a web developer; the most of I've done with websites lately is a bit of debugging and the odd minor fix. I think the last website I set up from scratch was back in my college days over 20 years ago. While I do development work on desktop apps in VB .NET connecting to SQL Server databases, which is the same technology my firm uses for their client website, I wouldn't want to underestimate the learning curve in writing a whole new website. That said, if I can be of any assistance – even if it's just providing a few pointers on database design – I'd be happy to offer some free advice as payback for what I've got out of your site over the years.

I don't develop, but I just wanted to say, while I do agree the site looks very dated, I'm hoping whenever this face lift happens, it still makes the site incredibly easy to use.
You'd be surprised how many people in the Queen discord server use your site to keep track of everything. I salute you for putting together an incredibly easy to understand site. Far better than the other Queen live sites out there.

Tell me more about what's being done there with Queen and my website. I'm curious, as I only know Discord as a gaming platform.

While Discord is heavily linked with and associated with gaming, it is often used for non-gaming communities to have text conversation and voice communication. The Queen server that Kieran and I are in has around 2000 people I think, so it's no slouch.

On this Queen discord server, there's a live channel where the Bootleg community hangs out. Your site is the absolute best for when someone comes in and asks us 'how can I get into Queen live shows and Bootlegs?' Even us veteran Bootleg listeners use your site, because most of us cannot remember all of these dates, haha. Very easy to understand.

Even though these last 5 - 6 months, I've kind of drifted away from the Queen community as a whole. I think it's time to get back into them again.
