Jeff Scott Soto is a great rock singer (he recorded some excellent stuff with the band Talisman), he did some nice Queen covers both using original Queen instrumental tracks and his own versions. You guys can look it upon YouTube if interested, there is too many to put here. He also sang a lot of Queen songs live, looks like he is a huge fan. Here is a nice Dragon Attack jam with Bri. youtu.be/3C2MSp9nqWU

After Glenn Danzig broke up The Misfits (as he wrote 100% of the songs and started the band) in 1983 to start his solo work, bassist/guitarist of The Misfits (siblings) Jerry Only and Doyle went on to start a metal band. Kryst The Conqueror. Experimenting recording with equipment they hand built in their machine shop. Jeff was hired to sing. The results, quite cheesy. But joking aside actually okay.

Jeff is an immensely talented singer XD I prefer Talisman's not-so-famous album Life, so many catchy songs with masterful vocals and strong bass gutar work.

I’ve heard (and own) way too many serviceable covers that usually make me wonder why I’m not just listening to the original. Here are two that I have returned to many times.
They kept the basic framework of the song but made it their own. Reminds me of Bad News’ version but better. This is full of so much energy. (But I only listen to the edited version that appears on this tribute album - can’t listen to the unedited version around my youngest.)
Also full of so much energy. Love the video. Can’t remember if I heard the cover before seeing this video, but I know the cover grew on me the more I watched the video. Recently it’s been showing up in my playlist quite a bit and I’m fine with that.

Do QAL covers count? I guess yes, so here are two „covers“ that I think are better than the originals:

Nuno Bettencourt, Gary Cherone & Guests: "Staying Power" (Queen Cover at Soundcheck Live) This one is really good! Very accurate performance! Their song choice makes it even more special.

Here’s an interesting dance cover of I Want to Break Free by Masterboy I heard for the first time recently. I call it interesting because it uses some of Freddie’s vocals (and possibly the synth solo).

I'm probably gonna get moaned at for this, but I prefer the Glass Candy version of FFMS! absolutely correct! - you will get moaned at. i managed 22 seconds of that abomination steve - and when i say managed, i mean suffered. the one things that song doesn't need is a siouxsie sioux/banshees type rendition. Glass Candy have achieved the unthinkable: reverse-alchemy, having turned Gold into Lead.

New cover. Duet covers of "Barcelona" tracks must be unusual.

I think the Tommy Shaw version of Spread Your Wings comes as close as it could get.

I think the Tommy Shaw version of Spread Your Wings comes as close as it could get. usually, Queen covers need to grab you with obvious "Queen trademarks" like vocal and guitar arrangements. (for me) it's fascinating that the two elements of these two songs that impress the most are neither of the above. the drums and piano are as near to perfect as you can get. impressive stuff.

I think this is actually a damn fine version of Sail Away Sweet Sister. Well done to those two!
Just checked it out, I am very impressed! I gotta admit I hadn't even opened that thread until now since I didn't actually know who they were. I am glad I do now.

Neko Case and Her Boyfriends - Misfire.
I'm not a huge fan of the original, but the song suits the style of the cover.
