I've been doing a little digging around in response to a post on QZ with regard to Queen songs appearing on those "in house" Compilations released from mid 60s through to mid 80s. All of these were musicians employed by the studios to re-record the hits of the day and "knock them out" very quickly (you can tell by the quality) on budget labels and low price. Artists were called to the studios daily and usually recorded 3 or 4 songs in 2-3 hrs and went home until their next phone call.
At one point in the early 70s - these budget labels' sales were counted for UK chart purposes, but after a some actually topped the charts - they were disqualified under "unfair competition" rules.
In the main, these were pretty awful, but one or two gems did surface from time to time. Interesting fact - some of these labels employed musicians who later had successful careers of their own; Elton John, Tina Charles etc.
Labels include the likes of Top of the Pops, Hot Hits, 12 Tops, 16 Chart Hits, Parade of The Pops, Smash Hits.
I'll try and detail as much info as I can on Queen songs that were covered on these LPs. Altough there were literally dozens of Record Companies/Labels in this game, i've only included those that cover the time period that Queen were active.

I have the complete TOTP [Pickwick Records (Hallmark Label)] collection - you can get them here:
www.filefactory.com/folder/1ade58d538b4c66e/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=25&page=4
the Top of the Poppers actually "covered" the Stars On 45 single...is this a first? "art imitating art, imitating art"
Now, can anyone point me in the direction of any download resources for the other compilations - all beyond the TOTP compilations are proving quite elusive.
Note: I'll try and update this thread as I find more information.
