Been lurking there over 20 years.. not posted much. About ones a week i can see. Basicly this queenchat should merge with queenzone. I guess all here come from qz.. and yes, we could do without the bots and nuts.

The amazing migration of posters to this forum in the first month pretty much sealed the deal I think. Something new was needed and everyone felt the same way.

I think merging the two is a bad idea, no offense. Queenzone had its day and served its purpose well...for a time. Let the past die, as they say.

A lot of memories there on QZ. But, nowadays here is the best forum to be in.

At a time where nothing happened in the world of Queen it was a great place to interract with like minded people. For me this site provided a very good portal of some serious discussion about Queen music and their history. It was the only place were Queen fans analyzed everything with detail. Bang on. Although even in the early days, the discussion was not embraced by all - we still had the "stepford" fans who refused to acknowledge any constructive criticism about the band, especially when such things were being brought to light for the first time.
And there was still all kinds of nonsense in the late '90s too. I remember a thread that said Dragon Attack was about gay sex, and I even fell for it. Such innocence...
But no doubt the positive still outweighed the negative. It served its purpose when it was needed most, but it was on life support long past its expiry date.

It is in a shocking state but I'm concerned there is much valuable research and so on that will become lost. Would be good if it could be archived, but I suppose that would cost, and all the tons of trash would need deleting. So it's probably best to let it go. It'll just take a bunch of copy/pasting - arduous, but not impossible. If people want to preserve anything, then they should go back and revisit some of the good threads, and we can create a section of the forum with the older posts worth hanging onto.

georg which troll is here, Georg? Chevyman. Most of his posts here are just quoting existing posts and not saying anything, and on QZ he was a serial spammer of nonsense.
He's history.

archive.is/ can archive snapshots of any interesting pages of sites you want kept. unlike The wayback archived the pages are searchable, but it doesn't store the whole site.

I was thinking the same but looking at his post history he may not no how to use Quote unless he’s doing it on purpose

This is not a place to learn how to use basic forum functions - it's kind of a prerequisite to being a member, which everyone else seems to have figured out.

My recollection of the history
Before / alongside the early QZ, there was the QueenRocker forum. There might have been a Fan Club forum too, alongside the queen-fip one.

It'd be much easier to make a bot for that. A small script to enter the main forum page, then enter each topic and sweep through each page copying username + date and time + post content. However, I feel we, human beings, would have lots of hard work to manually go through all that content later on to find the posts worth saving among all the repeated content, irrelevant posts and spam.

It's a shame because there was a time when it was a great site to visit and have discussions, find new information and talk with people who know a lot more about the band than I do. It was starting to turn to shit and then exploded with fuckheads and trolls once the band teamed up with Adam Lambert. Without moderators the place just ate itself alive. Ah, don’t you recall 2004, when Brian and Roger teamed up with Paul Rodgers? You’d’ve thought it was the end of the world... Or Brian and Roger with Robbie Williams? Or the Pepsi fiasco? Or........

Great forum at one point, with many colourful, knowledgeable and witty posters - now it's just a shit storm. Time to put Old Yeller to sleep.

We do need people to be vigilant though, and to report any suspicious activity via the Report Post function. The forum staff will always do our best to act quickly, but we can't all be here 24/7.

However, I feel we, human beings, would have lots of hard work to manually go through all that content later on to find the posts worth saving among all the repeated content, irrelevant posts and spam. Update: I made a script to do that. If anyone's got: a) Python 3 installed and... b) Probably DAYS of computer time to spare and... c) Permission from Richard to "brute force" into every thread on Queenzone's database... ...feel free to run it. github.com/rafaelmmoreira/QZBackupMakerI have performed small tests (such as scanning one entire page from a forum and scanning the last few pages of a forum) to make sure it's able to understand when a forum is over and move on to the next one on itself and it worked well. All results are exported to a neat json file, so it should be easy to rebuild it into a readable web page. I'll accept any commits fixing potential bugs or optimizations to decrease load on QZ servers.
