My brother and I often refer to Brian as 'Dr Wig'.

And there was still all kinds of nonsense in the late '90s too. I remember a thread that said Dragon Attack was about gay sex, and I even fell for it. Such innocence...
you mean it's not?

QZ has been part of my daily routine for nearly 20 years...it has been a great place for many years, but really went downhill for a while now.
I am greatful for all the knowledge and music that has been shared there with me over the years, but life goes on at this great site now.

Looks like the plug has been pulled earlier. It hasn't, but Richard and at least one other user are using a website crawler to save everything, he's putting it on github apparently, for those that like plying around with this stuff. Presumably this is on top of those of us who are finding threads to copy and paste from and / or snapshot at the wayback machine archive service. The server just can't take the traffic.

It's still working for me at the moment, although, it does seem to have some intermittent server issues, where you just get presented with a page of code. Edit:- Or, as above.

I've had trouble getting into QZ for several days now. And by trouble, I mean 6 or more hours where my requests timed out. I assume it's the activity of all the people trying to save threads. I plan to leave a "goodbye and thanks" message to Richard, but there is a lot of troll activity on his Intent to Close thread and I don't want to make that worse. Even though I'm a relative newcomer to QZ in comparison to most of you, I enjoyed it as a part of my daily online routine and I learned a lot there. In spite of what it has become, I will miss it. I'm just grateful that this site is here for many of us to find a new home. LOL, in fact, I've had some trouble accessing this site too and I assumed it might be due to the mass migration.

I am greatful for all the knowledge and music that has been shared there with me over the years, but life goes on at this great site now. Ditto. For two decades, my daily routine also included going to Queenzone, in many occasions dozens of times a day. A place for meeting and learning from fellow fans. I am deeply grateful to Richard, YV and everyone that led or took part in it. I am glad I was able to tell Richard personally at some point how grateful I am. I am so glad most of the contributing members of the community found a new home here. How lucky are we to have a new batch of fans strongly dedicated to creating and mantaining a new home for our discussions? Bless ya. Thanks a million. Cheers, Ogre-

Just looking through my Queenzone PMs, remember when someone (Possibly Anton) sent a bunch of us death threats? That place was crazy. Oh yeah, dear Anton. One week he sends me a "poorly worded death threat", the next week he asks me why I don't want to be his facebook friend. Great times. But he got a bit more "normal" in the last years, didn't he? And what about the guy(s) from the best band in the history - Treasure Moment? Treasure Moment was a band like The Room was a film.
High quality entertainment.

It's a shame that QueenZone became the hell hole it is nowadays because there were a lot of great threads online, and people even made friends there, i know i did.
Unfortunately the trolling became way too much and it's been awful ever since, i would say... The last 8 years?
Fatty is a joy! Penis-Vagina had some great insights as well, and of course John.S Stuart and Chiefmouse.
I started out in 2006 with the same name i have now, Innuendo1990, and i was a big @&$! who couldn't spell, was almost obsessed with finding near death pics of Freddie, and i was a pain in the ass. But i still wouldn't want to miss this time ever and i would do it all again.

So they're tearing the old house down now. I heard the news in a facebook group just now, and I couldn't help but feel a little bummed.
That was the 1st time I've met a wide community of Queen fans, guys who speak the same language if you will. Some of the discussions were a good read, especially when there's a new release official or otherwise. But yeah, it's run its course lately. I checked out the place just now and I'm sad to say it's even more of a mess now than the last time I went.
RIP QZ.

It´s sad seeing QZ vanishing. Great memories and very nice people I´ve met there. Luckily, I can still read many of you here. I regret don´t having much time these days to contribute or discuss here, in this wonderful new home we´ve found, but at least I try to have a quick look daily and there´s always something new I can learn from the band I love the most, thanks to you guys!

I wasn’t a big user of Queenzone. Quite frankly, I hardly ever used it. But the fact you guys really want to save some of the stuff that’s on it, really says a lot! It’s been on the net for a quarter of a century! A massive thanks to the people that led me this way, and took the time to create this!

I have a question for those much more knowledgeable than me, as Queen zone was totally unsecure, without SSL security or any kind of encryption, when the site data gets posted to github, will the email addresses and passwords from the users go with it?

I want to hope that they'll delete or not include those records when they dump the DB. The passwords are stored in plain text!

Me too, although my password hadn't been used for anything else so there wasn't really an issue for me.

Yeah, glad to see QZ finally laid to rest, even though it had its fair share of great moments. Just isn't worth keeping something online that isn't worth keeping anymore, when there are better options. Just got me thinking, and this is stretching the topic a bit, but... I keep reading about most of you lot having found a unity of Queen fans for the first time with QZ, but does anyone remember Queenworld from before 1998? That was while the official Queen website was still queen-fip.com, or whatever it was, and if I remember correctly, the official site didn't have a proper forum or a chat room, but QW had. After all, it was.. no - IS the official fan club page, so it had to have something like that, which it doesn't anymore. Back then, QW had a nice community, and I used its chat room quite often. Even remember a few nicks from back then. I don't think most of us even know of songs like Feelings Feelings or Silver Salmon or even Hangman back then - lucky if we had heard all the b-sides. Ah, good times...

QZ doesn't allow you to change the password, and it's in plain text. Any suggestions from the knowledgeable ones?
