I saw this ...let’s hope he is onto something .
I’m feeling a glimmer of hope for concerts next summer as the vaccine is being rolled out in the UK next week . I know it will take a while for us all to get it but it’s hopeful.

Neither will a significant number of people be effectively vaccinated by June (as in, nowhere near 90%+), nor I expect this to be a widely accepted solution within that timeframe. Not optimistic at all.

I get a strong "that's not how it works" vibe from his project tbh, but I flunked fluid mechanics at engineering school, so let the experts talk. I guess I'll only feel safe for a concert once a significant part of my country has taken the vaccine, myself included. However, it's nice to see there are people working on other alternatives, especially because if they work, they could make concerts safer in general forever, including during flu season.

Great that he's working on something but I wouldn't trust mere airflow to protect me in a concert environment, and it's going to take months for everyone to be vaccinated. I still can't see large scale concerts going ahead, at least not until the later part of the year. I certainly wouldn't go to a big concert without having had the vaccination, on the basis that I don't fall into the very high risk groups, so I'm not classed as overly vulnerable.

Although I agree with some of the sentiments above, majority of the people won't be vaccinated, either its personal choice or the roll out won't be until mid may or June, that's the problem we are facing at the moment. I think in my opinion they should either withhold or delay the dates of the concerts if it does go forward, and wait until the coronavirus numbers come down or when they are at a suitable figure.

A nightmare in the making. Just imagine that by some miracle they got it up and working and passed all health regulations (for which there are none). Now picture someone freaking out over a couple people coughing next to them, a few guys start running and pushing everyone... the whole arena panics and stampedes. People crushed and killed - Queen won't recover from that. But it's OK, it will not happen because authorities will shut down that gig before it takes place.
No country will be ready for big concerts this year. Quite frankly, the fact that they think they can make that work in 6 months, looking at the current state of affairs, smells of greed rather than good will to make people safer.

That's the problem, either some are "for" vaccines or some are against it, we can't be sure how many will be vaccinated for certain. I can only hope its substantial but we will have to wait and see. I personally don’t believe it’s as simple as “for” or “against”, I think a lot of people are like me in the sense of “I want the vaccine, I want a normal life again, but I’m 23 - what are the side effects in the future”? If I knew there were no complications to come 5 - 10 years down the line, I’d be first in line...but we simply don’t know that. Yes, we do. That's definitely not how vaccines work. The very long range tests they have been shortening especifically for the covid-19 vaccines are not focused on testing its safety, but their level of effectiveness. If we give the vaccine to a 1,000 people and only 10 of them show up with covid-19 symptoms, it's not enough to know whether the other 900 people were just lucky or not, or if the vaccine's effects will protect those other 900 people for a sufficiently long time or if maybe in a couple of years they'll be vulnerable again. Potential side-effects for vaccines should show up within hours or days from taking it, not "5 - 10 years down the line". We're talking about deactivated viruses, RNA fragments or harmless viruses modified to have the spike proteins in their surface, not substances that cause significant change to physical structures in your body, cause mutations in your DNA or affect how neurotransmitters bind to their receptors. If it didn't cause you any trouble in the first few days, it never will, as your body will neutralize and eliminate those substances, rather than accumulate them somewhere to release them 10 years from now. Unlike a phase-2 approved vaccine, what's really likely to be still causing you trouble "5 - 10 years down the line" is actually being exposed to the real, non-deactivated Sars-CoV-2. Although the risk of death is low, there's plenty of evidence that surviving pacients could have damaged lungs and heart pretty much for the rest of their lives, an increased risk of diabetes and olfactory impairment, among other things. It might sound scary to think scientists are trying to approve in a year what usually takes 10+ years. But there's some very serious work being done and peer reviewed by some of the most brilliant minds in this field all over the world, and there are many regulatory agencies in many governments analyzing them. Every flaw is being widely reported on the media, from possible side effects being reported among test subjects (Johnson&Johnson, Oxford/AstraZeneca) to mistakes in dosages administered to them (Oxford/AstraZeneca), or even the lack of papers reporting the actual results (Sputnik-5). There isn't any sort of worldwide conspiracy involving every respectable infectologist in the world to hide evidence against the covid-19 vaccines. All we've got is a history of over 100 years of successfully developing, testing and delivering vaccines, erradicating dangerous diseases all over the world and one very criminal attempt (which has been widely debunked over and over again) at linking a certain vaccine technology and autism using fake evidence by an asshole holding the patent to a competing vaccine technology. We're in 2020. It's frustrating how people use ultra high-end computers and comms tech that work based on some of the most complicated science we've ever studied (such as general relativity and quantum mechanics) to question basic science or the reliability of the scientific method.

I never once mentioned any linking between autism and vaccines, I’m not anti-vaccines. I understand that has been proven to be a garbage claim. I will not respond to you after, if you’re getting “frustrated”, because I raised question after reading from multiple new sources statements that clearly state what I said. Published yesterday: www.google.com/amp/s/abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/fda-working-day-night-covid-19-vaccine-emergency/story%3fid=74491765“As with any medical product ... there could be long-term side effects that we need to account for, which is why we put in place a very, very vigorous surveillance program," Hahn said. ..but I’m the asshole for thinking so wildly 👍🏼 I have no horse in this race, simply tried conversing after reading what I’ve read from the FDA, so have a good one. I’m not engaging in this.

Apologies if you misconstrued that as aggressive. I was only responding to someone who was frustrated with my brief response. I felt his last comment was personal, insinuating that I’m a simpleton for raising question to what is justifiably questionable, as it was publicly stated by the FDA. While you asked cordially, I don’t feel I was overtly aggressive, unless a curse (pointed at myself) is considered that..I don’t wish to cause frustration or inflict cyber-aggression, I’ll see myself off the board.

Vaccine Damage is a very real thing, like any medication some people can react to it in a way that leaves them debilitated for life, it's very rare but it happens. Having questions over vaccines which have been rushed through trails isn't a bad thing.

Robby is a decent guy. We've now lost him as a member. Not great news. That’s a real shame . I didn’t see anything by him as aggressive . I have actually volunteered to be part of the trials for testing . One of the reasons this is able to get through so fast is the shear number of people who have volunteered. Without people like me progress couldn’t be made . I’m happy to take my chances to help fight this thing . It’s affecting far too many peoples lives now . It’s rolling out in the uk next week but no one will be forced into having it . Each to their own

Robby is a decent guy. We've now lost him as a member. Not great news. It appears he deleted himself twice last night, the first time for reasons unknown. Not sure what was going on but I did feel his response was a little hot-tempered (maybe 'aggressive' was the wrong word), and didn't want things to escalate. He'd be welcome to re-register at any time.

Having questions over vaccines which have been rushed through trails isn't a bad thing. You are correct in what you say, but, it’s a question of probability. We are way way more likely to be killed or injured going to a rock concert than we are by a vaccine. And we are way way more likely to be killed or made sick by covid than we are by the vaccine. I want the vaccine and the sooner the better.

Could there be an argument for vaccination 'passports' (issued when you've had the vaccine) to allow admittance to certain buildings and indoor events such as sports and concerts? That would give assurance (as far as possible) that the event would be 'Covid-safe'.
Of course, any such system would mean those choosing not to have the vaccine, for anything other than genuine medical reasons, would continue to face some restrictions on what they can do, but that might focus some minds a bit.

I know that in America the very thought of having a vaccination "passport" would go over like a lead balloon. We already have folks over here who refuse to wear a mask because it infringes upon their "freedoms" (🙄), so I can only imagine those who believe this thing is a hoax and refuse to wear masks won't be getting a vaccine, rendering the passport idea useless. Besides, plenty of people have lied and said they don't have COVID so that they can get into an event, only for it to transpire they had COVID all along. It really is a fustercluck. The political "leaders" in America have done a number on us with the anti-mask propaganda, etc. It's really scary.

I've already said my use of the word "aggression" was wrong, but I didn't see any 'personal' remarks towards RBS either. As has been said, things can get a little tense in these topics, and it's a fine line for forum staff to either allow a simmering issue to cool naturally, or step in before it boils over. At about 1am, I may have jumped in too soon, but it was with the best of intentions. RBS is more than welcome to re-register on the forum.

Yeah, but the point is, without the 'passport', they wouldn't be allowed entry to the event, so when they find activities in their lives curtailed, they may reconsider having the vaccine.

Oh I agree with you, and I'm on the same page as you. It's just... Americans can be a volatile bunch, and instead of getting the vaccine to make things easier, some find it more satisfying to bitch and moan and call everyone they disagree with snowflakes. I'm sure they'll eventually get the vaccine, but not without significant kicking and screaming.
