So, after holding onto people’s money for YEARS, The people who have been supporting Thor and Lee on Queenzone, we not given advanced copies of their book. Today, people who ordered from Amazon, got their books today. At 6:25pm Thor posted this update:  Evidently, they don't even know people already received their books. 🤦♀️ I paid money because I thought that the Queenzone fans would be taken care of. I'm asking for my money back. I don't care about their ”autographs”, I’m a Queen fan, not a New York Daughter’s fan. |

The books were likely leaked early, as they were selling used on Amazon for $150 a few days ago.
Are you really upset that you have to wait a few more weeks for the autographed book?
The third draft of the book was finally approved by Thor and Lee just days before Xmas.

This was, as expected, a waste of time (fortunately I didn't pony up my cash up front). The images were leaked/released early as was the bulk of the text.
The authors should have had full control but never mind naive authors these guys have been around a while, they watched Freddie manage his image masterfully yet got distracted when the $$ signs started appearing in their eyes.
another lesson learned.

We don't know the full story, but I find it sad that there is always a segment of the population that can find something to, as Doughnut said, bitch about. It's silly. We will all get our books. If you don't want to see the images early, then stay off the internet. I am looking forward to my book arriving even though I have already seen most of the images. So what? This is a minor issue in comparison to everything going on in the world. Relax. |

I found this book a big disappointment.
I followed Thor's Queenzone threads and found them interesting and genuine. So I was interested in getting the book to see some of the pictures.
I think I was actually hoping for some night-time partying shots full of NYC nightlife but there was precious little of that.
Anyway, for $33 (£27) you get 102 pages. Out of this...
8 pages are totally blank (at different points throughout the book and not including the 2 blank flysheets front and back)
7 pages are book info (titles, forward, preface etc)
1 page is a floorpan of Freddie's Manhattan apartment
4 pages are collages of personal notes and greetings cards.
23 pages are of text (in a largish font). split as written by Thor - 16 pages, and Lee 7 pages. Basically just a few vignettes on meeting, travelling, staying in hotels and being backstage. Certainly no great insights.
60 pictures.
Some of the pictures appear to be completely un-doctored snap-shots. Surprising as Lee is supposed to be a professional standard photographer.
But the real problem is the stock (paper) that the photo pages are printed on. It's the same as the text pages which is a standard cartridge paper. Photo pages should be printed on a silk stock at least, or even a gloss stock so the pictures jump out from the page. The ink just sinks into cartridge paper and the end result is dull (yes I have worked for printing/publishing houses).
Sometimes the stock used is referred to somewhere in the books credits but I couldn't see that.
However what I did discover was interesting.
The Title page gives the publisher as Page Publishing Inc. PA and then states 'Printed in the United States of America'.
But the very last page states 'Lightening Source UK Ltd, Milton Keynes UK. A quick Google shows that they are printers.
I understand if vanity Publishing Houses like Page sub-contract the printing to companies in the different countries where they are selling the book but in that case maybe they should get rid of the 'Printed in the USA' line.
But going back to the content, it seems a very respectful book. They don't give too much away and certainly nothing salacious (and I'm sure they must have some real dirt).
It seems more like a memory jogger for those who were there who are likely to say "Oh God yes, remember where we went after that, you in the men's room with...."
But for the rest of us it's ultimately quite boring.
I understand why it costs so much (small production run etc) but to me it's not worth the money.

It is a feel-good coffee table photo book. It certainly is not a "deep" book.
I enjoyed the book, and reading it left me completely relaxed. It shows the casual side of Freddie.
The book is sort of an overview of the New York Daughters friendship with Freddie, and goes into less detail than Thor's topics on QZ.
I think the book is worthwhile, and I rate it four out of five stars.

If you participated in Thor's QZ threads you've heard the stories before. However, since QZ is gone and no one would want to wade through all of that again anyway, it's nice to have the stories all in one place. If you were not part of those threads, then the stories will open a new part of Freddie's world for you. The pictures were transferred from slides, so not always of the best quality though most are fine, and it's always fun to see Freddie so relaxed and just being himself. The front and back pages of the book share a collection of cards and notes Freddie sent to the guys over the years and I particularly enjoyed that as it gave Freddie a voice in the book. The photo from their last day at Garden Lodge is particularly poignant and I find it a fitting end to their journey with Freddie.
It's a nice book to add to your Freddie book collection and Thor and Lee definitely achieved their goal of sharing Freddie's little known life in NY.

A friend sent me this Christmas message , written by Lee Nolan to a friend. It seems that Thor Arnold passed away this summer. The message basically says that Thor suffered a cardiac arrest in August, he was in his swimming pool doing some of his knee exercises. Lee said that they were able to revive him, but he didn't know if Thor ever regained consciousness. "After 48 hours on life support, with all tests showing signs of organ failure and no brain activity, his sister honored his advance directives and had him removed from life support." He added, "Please pass this onto anyone that you are in touch with from the blog". Much love being sent from Palm Springs, Lee. The message was sent to a person named "Peny"

I'm very sorry to hear that.
It's been a turbulent and pretty awful set of years for me personally, but it had been nagging on me that I hadn't sent Thor (*or the mailing address from which I received the book) a Christmas card over the past two years
He seemed a kind and appreciative guy. Anybody in medical care had to have seen SOO MUCH ... I'm thankful for what he shared with folks on here, despite the naysayers who said he and Lee's efforts merely spoke of opportunism
Damn damn damn... I'd better get to sending out those letters now.

RIP Thor ... too young too soon. Thor, as a very engaging dude, was the last excellent thing that happened on QZ, with the possible exception of music sharing (which is even better now on QueenChat).

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Thor's passing. Too young for sure. He was a true gentleman and worked hard to keep his thread on QZ civil and kind. He was generous in his sharing of stories and made many friends through the thread and QZ that lasted past the demise of QZ. I will miss him.

RIP Thor, had an honour to talk with him for a couple of times on an old queenzone site, his book of memories about Freddie, written together with Lee, will always remain in a section of good books about Freddie as on my choice in particular, and he would always remain as a charming and everyouthful young man, forever young. Will be missed
