Yes, Brian and Roger. I had a picture taken with Brian, and he autographed a CD for me (picture is on an HDD somewhere, so not uploading) but Roger wasn't for doing anything - he left in a hurry, and seemed to be in a bit of a mood. I also met Rufus on the same evening - he might not exactly count, but I think he was drumming with them at the time.

You know what they look like, are you looking for photos of us? I met Roger at a Cross concert in 1990 and very briefly at a charity show in Wiltshire in about 2014. I've been told there is a pic of the former, although I've never seen it. I met Brian as he was leaving a show in 1993, and he signed a poster. No pic that I'm aware of.

Never met the band members...but I have met Peter Freestone. Doesn't seem like much, but it was a heartwarming experience I won't soon forget.
Honestly, I'm quite scared of meeting the band. I'd hate to walk away having had a bad experience and possibly tarnishing my impression of them. The closest I ever got was during a concert in Vegas a couple years ago. Brian was starting Love Of My Life and chatting with the audience when I yelled "I love you." To my disbelief he responded with "I love you too." I just about lost my mind at that point. Again, doesn't seem like much, but another experience I won't forget.

Met them all after the Maine Road gig, Manchester 1986. Got my Live Killers tape sleeve signed. Didn't have a camera in those days and long before mobile phones. Met Brian and the band afer the Manchester Apollo gig on the BTTL Tour - programme signed - again no camera Waited for Roger after the Happiness gig at Shephards Bush. This time with a camera - but he was a miserable sod that night - came out of stage door, waved and buggered off

Was let into the after party upstairs at the Hammersmith Palau’s when Roger and the Cross were joined by Brian and John at the fan club Xmas party. Someone slapped a sticky backstage pass (the magic tour one with the girl on a stool) on my fancy red dress and shoved me and my friend in. We were too shy to go and speak to anyone, but Roger came past and said “hold these” and gave me his sticks. Me and my friend kept one each. There are no photos...
Roll on about 30 years and I was holidaying in Sweden in order to attend a QAL concert. I joked with my kids I’d take the backstage pass that I’d kept all those years in case I bumped into them. Wandering around in the snow on the day of the show we decided to walk along the river rather than head uphill. This was the right choice because we came across a small group of people standing in a line outside a hotel. I joined the line and five minutes later out came Roger and then Brian (it could have been the other way around tbh). I got them both to sign that backstage pass. There are photos. One of them even has me and Roger in where he ISN’T doing the pointy thing with his hand. They are on insta if you want to look. I’m not linking them here.

Ooh, some interesting stories here! I would really love to meet them, especially Brian since he is such a big inspiration for me personally, but obviously with the situations in the world right now that will likely not be possible any time soon, and even once everything is relatively back to normal/safe idk how I would ever be able to get the opportunity anyway... But I mean hey, you never know what could happen and there is always some sort of possibility someday. From the meet-up stories that I have heard, though, it seems like Brian and Roger are generally pretty nice, which makes me very happy to hear that!

I met Roger at the album signing the week before at HMV. (It may not have been Take That hysteria, but he sure was popular). I said to him “see you next week”. He looked momentarily confused, then realised what I was talking about. I also chatted to Jim Beach but can’t remember the conversation. My younger, hipper girlfriend became a Queen fan by osmosis and was involved in the promotion for the film. She flew with the cast on a private jet from LA to Vegas to watch QAL and chatted with Brian and Roger before the show. I’d primed her about their personalities. She enjoyed talking to both of them and discussed her love of Tenement Funster with Roger.

There was another Roger gig I remember when, as we were all lined up outside, listening to the soundcheck, the greatest Rock n Roll entrance of all time was made. A number 47 bus pulled up and Spike Edney strolled off eating sweets from a Woolworth’s pick n mix bag. Oh, the glamour!

I met Brian in June '91 at HMV on Yonge Street in Toronto during his Innuendo promo tour. Bigger than expected crowd as Queen hadn't toured NA since '82. Long line up for autographs, I didn't get through line when they called it a day as Brian had a plane to catch. Thought WTF, never likely to have this opportunity again so I breached security and got to Brian's limo with my guitar in hand. He got out, signed it (I had no marker) and commented on how subtle the black signature on the black guitar was. Just lovely. He was charming and could have said get bent as he was already in the limo.
I always take these things with a grain of salt when people have good or bad interactions with famous people. A woman behind me was furious that the autograph session had ended and was telling Brian that he needed to remember the old fans. Since we were 50 yards back I doubt he heard a thing, and even if he did how does he know who is a new or old fan and who gets preference for autographs? Can guarantee she didn't have same feeling about trying to meet Brian as I did. On the flip side, I met Billy Squier at a meet and greet and he was a dick. Indifferent attitude, could tell he wasn't thrilled to be there. Only when I got older and matured a bit I saw that for me it was a once-in-a-lifetime meeting with someone I admired. For him, it was work and maybe a reminder that 5 years prior he was selling out 20,000 seat arenas, now he was struggling to fill a 2,000 seat venue. Add in the fact that his label was burying his career, I changed my mind on his not-so-great attitude as I empathized with his situation and didn't focus on me.

I've never met any of the members, but I did receive a lovely email from Brian about a photo I'd taken of the moon with a sort of haze around it.

Roger signed the cover of my Innuendo at the end of the Béjart show in January 97, at the Trocadéro in Paris ... I hand him my pen ... but he signs someone else's autograph !! "Hey Roger It's my pen, but not my leaflet !!" He looked up at me, laughing sweetly, before signing an autograph ... cool ...
Brian was walking away towards the bus, I tried the same tactic, but he seemed in a bad mood, a simple "no" and I didn't insist ...
In the 90s, I lived in the heart of Paris and I often walked home crossing half of the city, dreaming ... To improve my English, which I practiced regularly for my job, what could I say to Brian, Rog or John if I met him ?? ....
And it happened ... I locate it around the fall of 98, no certainty ... At the Galerie Lafayette, behind the Opéra Garnier, in Paris, I was going down an escalator to the ground floor when I saw clogs and white socks ... Mr Brian May! I approached him discreetly, he was accompanied, and we exchanged a few words, to be frank, I lost track of time a bit, we talked about The Prophet's songs, the harmonies, The March of the Black Queen , my Queen story as a "die hard fan" since 1977, then ... so ... “I don't want to bother you further, have a nice time in Paris” ... and bye bye
I lit a cigarette on the other sidewalk as he walked away, my hands were shaking and I realized I hadn't even asked to sign me something!

Conversely, is anyone actually afraid of meeting them in a bad mood and have their image shaken forever? Yep. Would love to meet them. But I've heard too many stories about Roger being not very friendly. I don't know if I'd have the courage, honestly. They've been like father figures to me. I don't want to tarnish that.

Yes, Roger is really NOT friendly. The journalist says "Roger signed a few autographs, lost interest in what was happening, showed his tongue off the cameras... and left" (01:15 - 01:23)

I met all of them in the Grand Hotel in Brighton in 79.
Roger Taylor was the first of them I spoke to, just a brief hello and autograph. He was perfectly friendly and asked my name. John was very quiet and I really don’t remember what he said, though he seemed happy to sign the picture I had.
Brian, unlike Roger didn’t ask my name though he chatted to me for 10 maybe 15 mins about photography and his guitar and back line setup and how he was enjoying the Crazy Tour.
That was during the afternoon of the first night. After the gig (the hotel was next door to the Brighton Centre) I went straight back to the hotel in the hope of meeting Freddie. After waiting a few minutes he appeared with a group of about six people. I said hello, said I’d enjoyed the gig. His only words were “I’m in a rush” He grabbed my gig program told one of the guys with him to give him a pen and scribbled an autograph even though I didn’t ask! It’s a day I’ll always remember as a star struck teenage fan.

Reminds me of the old saying "Never meet your heroes, you will always be disappointed". Yeah, that is why I always try to keep a level head about it and always keep in mind that that my heroes/people I admire are human beings (aside from fictional characters of course), who are imperfect and may make mistakes sometimes. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are *bad* and not worthy of admiration any more though (though of course every situation/person is different) and it also depends on how they *handle* those mistakes.

I've never met any members of Queen, although, strangely, I used to have a recurring dream of meeting Brian in a pub. He was wearing a long leather coat, and we used to converse quite readily. I also used to dream about meeting Prince Charles! 😄😄
In my line of work, though, I did meet a number of rock musicians, and most of them just want to be treated like anyone else. I did find some of them a bit standoffish at first, but when they realise you're not out to hassle them for autographs and stuff, they just chat normally. I met Luke and Danny from Thunder, and got chatting about them recording their new album, which was at the time, The Thrill Of It All. They were working at a studio in Sussex and gave me an advance copy of the album on cassette. Nice guys. 👍

The journalist says "Roger signed a few autographs, lost interest in what was happening, showed his tongue off the cameras... and left" (01:15 - 01:23) That is kinda funny actually, although whoever might have been waiting for him for hours could have been very upset by that little gesture. Rather, I'm talking about them putting a bad face and telling people to fuck off. I don't think there have been many times when they were straight up rude or intentionally offended anyone (I remember a story about Gene Simmons being really obnoxious to people out of the blue). Not that it can't happen / never happened, but they're certainly classier than most. After the gig (the hotel was next door to the Brighton Centre) I went straight back to the hotel in the hope of meeting Freddie. After waiting a few minutes he appeared with a group of about six people. I said hello, said I’d enjoyed the gig. His only words were “I’m in a rush” "... to fuck all these people!"

I was standing outside the Brighton Centre with about 300 hundred other fans. I just left the masses and made for the hotel. i met both Roger and Brian a few times since then, as a fan, and also through work.
