if you can, please post your camera settings used. took this back in 2015. A Sparrowhawk flew down toward our French Windows - think it was after thinking our small parrot would make a light snack. Fujifilm S8650 bridge camera: F/4, 1/70th, ISO 200Wow. That is a beautiful bird and pictures.

Great pictures! It's probably pretty rare to get a bird of prey to sit for a portrait that well, and I'm impressed with the quality.
I'm not really much of photographer and I don't know too much about it, but I did take this photograph one night the winter before last, I think, and I quite like it. I used my uncle's 'old' camera, a Nikon D200, with a Sigma 17-35mm 1:2.8-4 DG HSM lens, but I'm afraid I haven't a clue what settings I used at the time. It was, obviously, manually focused and I didn't get it *quite* right. Earlier, it had rained a little, then the temperature had dropped and maybe a quarter of an hour before I took this picture it had started snowing, very lightly at first, then slightly heavier. All of a sudden I noticed the light from the broadcast tower and the snowfall interacting to create this projection of light you see in the picture. I went to my bedroom, closed the door, shut off all the lights, opened the window wide, found a position where I blocked out the street light right in front of the house and still had a good view of the tower, then tried to stabilize myself and the camera as best I could and took a couple of pictures from slightly different positions with slightly varying settings over the next three minutes or so. I had about eight, two of which were okay. This one I liked best, so I cropped it a little, did some minor editing (there was a tiny but very annoying red reflection of something or other taking up about four pixels right in the middle of one of the darkest parts, I think the picture was tilting to one side by about 2 degrees, etc.) and left it at that. I hope you like it!

I've done this with my first two DSLRs (Canon 1300d and now 200d) initially set everything to auto, take your pics - different scenarios, then look at image(s) properties in windows - it'll give you details of f/ iso and shutter speed. write 'em down and the scene type and then take images in manual mode using those settings as a starter. these can then be tweaked to get the finish that you want.

Canon T50, FD 50mm F2, settings - no idea, probably around F2-2.8. 1/125. nice technique. by setting the target slightly off-centre, you're really made the cat pop out of the background! did you use a flash? those levels of contrast in the cat's fur are really deep. impressive image.

Thanks! No, I didn't. I did get a flash and experimented a bit early on, but got rid of it. I only shoot in natural light.

Great photos everyone!! It's amazing how clear the animal and scenery photos are! I especially like the sparrowhawk and the cat photos. And the lighting from ThomasSquinn's window captures the mood really well.

Taken in the middle of lockdown - it's a panorama of about half a mile of beach, populated by one woman and her dog. Any other year and it would have been packed/

nice. sums up the social effects of Covid-19 perfectly. the desertion of normal/everyday locations is very "after the Zombie Apocalypse".

Do images shot through a streaming cam count, here? I use a program rather than an actual camera. The program is called Bandicam and then I use various other programs for photo editing such as Pixlr, GoArt, Fotor and quite a few others.
