Brian playing golf or baseball with Red Special? It can't be the original. Also interesting to see how they preferred white or bright outfits at the end of their career, while they were wearing mainly black at the beginning. You're probably right - that has to be his Guild copy.
It was mostly summer outdoor gigs. They wanted to feel loose and comfortable, and white would trap less heat.
That's probably one of the reasons. Hot Space and The Works tours were also mostly in the summer months.

The reason for the white outfits. Playing large outdoor gigs you’re much more visible in light colours, particularly in semi darkness/ sunset or even mid evening summer light. Dark colours work much better in a blacked out indoor venue under concert lighting. Regarding Brian’s baseball bat. That is the Red Special. In 1986 he was using the 1984 Guild guitars as spares and they were fitted with Kalher trems. Brian’s knife edge system is clearly visible.

Great set of photos but certainly an unfortunate hair era for Mr. Mercury.

Found this one on the Red Special Forum. Looks like a soundcheck from 1980. They're in their street clothes, and Brian wasn't wearing clogs on stage anymore by then.
Great shot of his pedal gear too.

I'd guess this is from early in the 1980 tour, possibly rehearsals. Freddie is still rockin' the Play The Game video haircut with bangs. At some point later in July he had a completely different haircut that looks like it was done by someone better skilled. I realize that this is my second comment in the last few days about his hair but I think it's one of the easiest ways to date him because the length gradually got shorter and more thinned down by the Magic Tour.

Hanover, May 5th 1982 littlequeenie97 has a theory about that 8mm film from this tour, purported to be from this night and a few other places that's nearly convinced me. I encourage you to share your findings with the rest of this forum. I've heard from multiple people (including someone who was friends with the filmer) that the film is from primarily from Hanover and with a few bits from Dortmund. The Boblingen story is nonsense.

Sure, but they've found bits that seemingly sync with Cologne 5/7 nearly perfectly, and no bits of film that match up with what they were wearing in Dortmund (that's what I've been told anyway. I haven't had time to actually go over it all). Cologne isn't too far from Dortmund either, so perhaps the filmer did go there. That's why I encourage littlequeenie97 to lay it all out on here. It's something worth taking up, I think.

And I should mention that I have no doubt that at least some of the film is Hanover (in some bits Fred is wearing exactly what he is in some of those shots above), but whether the rest of it is from Dortmund or not is a mystery as of now.

Yeah, the main thing that helps us notice that Dortmund isnt on the film is Johns outfit, in none of the 3 films where he is seen he is wearing the jeans and the red shirt, in those videos he is wearing the matching blue pants and shirt, and in the other one Brian's wearing a different outfit.

The Brian footage Where he has a black shirt could be from Cologne 5/7 as the audio seems to match the video, specially in his speech before Love Of My Life

The footage shot from the side of the stage could be from Leiden 4/24 as the outfits seem to match and the film too

The majority of the shots are from Hanover, so it may well be that Deacon isn't in the few shots from Dortmund. The Brian footage Where he has a black shirt could be from Cologne 5/7 as the audio seems to match the video, specially in his speech before Love Of My Life Intriguing - feel free to post a sample of your sync. The footage shot from the side of the stage could be from Leiden 4/24 as the outfits seem to match and the film too Definitely not. The filmer was German and didn't attend the Leiden shows. And we know well by now that Queen wore the same outfits at multiple shows - sometimes for entire tours.

John usually didn't seem to change outfits mid-show but the other three certainly did on many nights.

They could be from a different spot in the show, or maybe they're mislabelled. Far stranger things have happened.
But if those bits are from Cologne, then I look forward to seeing your sync when you get the chance.

Yeah, but in that photo set one can see Brian with the white shirt during Love Of My Life, and in the 8mm film he has the black one in that exact same song, so it isnt from Hannover.

That bit on the film definitely isn't Hanover. A good way to compare them would be to sync Dortmund as well and compare it with your Cologne sync. I thought the Cologne bit looked good.
