Nice! I hadn't noticed there was a second set of cog wheels. Presumably only the smaller ones moved.

Nice! I hadn't noticed there was a second set of cog wheels. Presumably only the smaller ones moved. The cogs at the back (the higher ones) are the ones that moved. Although the set was inspired by Metropolis with its futuristic machinery the cogs in The Works set were turned by manually by two stage hands.

Has anyone got higher resolution copies of any of these 1974-75 studio shots (or similar shots from the same sessions) ?
1975 ANATO @ Ridge Farm, by Watal Asanuma
75 w/Eddie Howell
There's over 300 photos from Ridge Farm. I've been collecting them all. Not all of them are high-res, but surely there's something worth posting here. Just give me a day or two. Hell yes - thanks !
Really looking forward to seeing the rest.

Haha. . . It was concided a more reliable option over electric motors. A more expensive option, the cost over an entire tour of two local stage crew (stage hands) at each venue to operate the cogs probably cost more than the motorised option.

Grabbed all the photos from the first episode of the youtube 50th anniversary video. Merged two pics with photoshop where the camera was panning through the photo.. Here's the folder: link Sorry if someone did it before me. Some phenomenal shots in there - thanks for grabbing them.
It's mainly Imperial College '73 and Rainbow '74, but this one is much earlier - note how straight May's hair is. Considering the other photos from the 7-18-70 gig at Imperial College, I'm pegging it to be from that one. The photography and lighting seem similar.
Either way, this is without a doubt the earliest known photo of Brian May on stage with Queen. This is massively substantial.

Trying to get actual scans of these... a friend's mom shot these in Vancouver, December 14, 1978.

As promised, here's collection of photos from Ridge Farm that were taken exactly during rehearsal. Some of the shots were uploaded before so they're not included here, apart from the better copies. Most of them taken by Watal Asunama Perfect - thanks for these !
I've got this one in colour (looks like it's a screenshot from a documentary):
And this one is from 1973:

Sorry about that, I edited my post and changed the order a bit. Thanks for the better copy ! I was watching all documentaries 2 years ago (largely in search of photos), but I missed this one.

Hi everyone,
I've seen a few people on this thread with the capabilities of capturing very high quality screen grabs from some Queen footage. I'm wondering is anyone able to capture a high quality version of this 'behind the kit' view of Roger's kit at Live Aid? There are multiple views like this displayed during the Live Aid footage but I can't seem to locate a high quality image.
Many thanks, Mark.

These are the closest I've ever come across:
On that note, if anyone's got a high res copy of this one from Hyde Park, I'd be eternally grateful - this is one of my very favourite Queen-related shots:

Isn’t that BHM/ Live Aid image a Photoshop special?
- Brian’s outfit is what he wore at Wembley in 1986 (from memory) - Sun shining far brighter in the Wembley image than it did for Queen’s set - Focus of the crowd away from Brian
