Maybe there was an issue with his StingRay and he played his Precision for a few songs ? Pretty sure he still kept it as a spare.
Likewise in 1980 when the P bass was his main, he still had the StingRay as a spare:

Alright, we have another photo mystery on our hands. Jeffrey Mayer, as many of us know, is an LA-based photographer. He took shots of the band on their various tours when they played in Santa Monica and Inglewood, etc. But there is clearly a set of photos he took that cant be from the region. The shots are from one of the January/February shows where Deacon was still playing his Fender Precision Bass. Maybe there was an issue with his StingRay and he played his Precision for a few songs ? Pretty sure he still kept it as a spare.
Likewise in 1980 when the P bass was his main, he still had the StingRay as a spare:
Sure, but there are plenty of shots from both LA shows, and in none of them does John have the Fender bass in them. Also compare Jeffrey Mayer's legit LA shots, where it's clearly in a different venue (you can't see people behind the stage in these ones). A good way to tell the two nights apart is that on the first night, Brian wore white pants, where as on the second night, Brian wore black pants. The above shot is from the second night. Below is a legit shot of the first night (although labeled as 3/3/77): Again, it looks like a different venue than the original shots I shared here.

Below is a legit shot of the first night (although labeled as 3/3/77): Great post. Then this one is legit from 3/2/77 (also by Neil Zlozower): Sure, but there are plenty of shots from both LA shows, and in none of them does John have the Fender bass in them. Also compare Jeffrey Mayer's legit LA shots, where it's clearly in a different venue (you can't see people behind the stage in these ones). To be fair, sometimes photographs will use a flash and they'll illuminate all kinds of details not seen in ones without flash.
But in this case, if Deacon is playing his P bass in the brighter shots and his StingRay in the darker ones, then indeed they're from two different venues.

And I think I've just figured it out. The second set of Jeffrey Mayer shots from the Races Tour seems to be MSG, as the line of ads in the back of the venue are exactly as they are in this shot below (the Coca Cola one sticks out a lot).

Great observation, you can even see the P of the ramp sign in the concert pic.

I was going to point out that Coke probably had advertising in more than one hall, bit that Ramp sign (and the Gate one above it in both pics) absolutely seal's it.

Anyone know what show this Crazy tour photo comes from? According to Getty, the photo comes from the Michael Ochs Archives.

Ok, now this is where things really get confusing, because things just aren't adding up: If these shots really are New York (which, based on the advertisements and the other bits of the arena, I have no doubt they are), then the film that was recently uncovered can't be from the same night, as Brian is in a different outfit during the strip act (his pants are white, not black). But, this photo from a set by Richard Aaron is also labelled as MSG and I have no doubt that this shot is from the same show as the film. Anyone else want to chime in? Things clearly aren't adding up. Richard Aaron was a photographer from New York and always shot them at MSG, so this is a really strange situation. Perhaps the film and the shot of Fred there are from Nassau Coliseum the day after?

(edited, as I changed the timestamp to be at the correct spot)
At the end of the video, for the descending guitar section, Roger can be heard hitting cymbals on the last part, but the video doesn't show him doing that.

So, the video is from Uniondale?

In Aaron's set, you can see Brian wears white pants for main set:
For the encore, he seemingly switches to the black pants:
This matches the 8mm, which shows Brian in the black pants.
Additionally, Sikke posted this image on Instagram around the time he went on his YouTube uploading rampage.
Based on this evidence and what Ryan posted, I am inclined to believe that the correct date for Sikke's 8mm and for the Richard E. Aaron set is Uniondale.

So, the video is from Uniondale? That's where the evidence is pointing right now.

Additionally, Sikke posted this image on Instagram around the time he went on his YouTube uploading rampage. More carrot dangling - and he lied about the date on YouTube, saying it's from the Madison gig. Colour me shocked.
In other news - I may have a Uniondale audience tape on the way, so hopefully it'll include the encore and we'll have the right audio for the film.

I have more evidence. youtu.be/8LcbMcAcm24?t=25 around here, on the audio Freddie sings into the mic “Yeah!”, but on the video, you can see he doesn’t raise his mic to sing that.

Additionally, Sikke posted this image on Instagram around the time he went on his YouTube uploading rampage. So, the film also contains parts of Tie Your Mother Down and White Queen, at least.

And something from later in the show, somewhere between Bohemian Rhapsody and In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited:
But considering this shot is from Liar and Freddie doesn't have his "wings" on, I'm not convinced the Big Spender footage is also from Uniondale:

Yeah, all signs seem to be pointing to Nassau Coliseum.
