I was just thinking the other day that this would eventually happen, only that I imagined a possible rock cover or even an attempt to give vocals to original Queen songs or unfinished demos.
This is straight evil. Kill it with fire!

The clip is crap, but the fact it can be done is quite exciting. Maybe we'll hear that Phantom Of The Opera stuff, or New York New York now lol.

This is actually great, if this comes available as a tool we could make our own Queen songs, replacing Brian in Mother Love for example...or am I saying something stupid?

When you see deep fake videos and now audio it is pretty scary of what the future holds. Nothing will ever be believable again.

How would we feel, for example, if Brian and Roger wrote ten new songs, got an AI 'Freddie' to sing them and called it a Queen album? I guess it's similar to having holographic images of people on stage, like they did with Ronnie James Dio. Might be fun for a while, but then all the rights and wrongs start creeping in.

Brings definite ethical issues.
I think they had a hologram of Tupac perform live on stage a few years back, obviously it was visual and this thread concerns audio but it's all interlinked.
And fairly sure Kanye West created a hologram of Robert Kardashian and had it say what he wanted it to... a definite ethical dilemma if we can be putting words in a dead person's mouth.

This example that we may not like, but the AI tool will make it better every time. In the future (and now) it will be difficult to know which images, videos or voices are real. I don't like it, but, unfortunately, it will be like that. Some of this, about a dystopian future is mentioned in some of Roger's songs. Sorry for my poor Google english.

This is not "scary" or terrifying at all. It's fascinating. Can't wait for us to try it Holy shit this is amazing--in fact I prefer this kind of AI to the "deepfake faces" thingy

Wow. Just wow. I’m not sure what I think about this. I do know how I feel, though, since the hair on my arms stood up on end but I had to tell them to lie back down since I know it’s not really him. Wow.

Wow, this is amazing technology. It really is, and Freddie's voice will be a high goal to strive for. Give it another decade and we're in for convincing results in all fields AI. That said, we could do without this particular attempt, haha.

I gave it a listen yesterday and was somewhat unconvinced, however now that I gave it another listen it does sound rather good. Or it might be that I've already had a couple of beers to celebrate my summer vacation...
But I'm seriously conflicted about this sort of technology. On the other hand it could be used to complete unfinished projects by vocalists who died too soon (Freddie included). But on the other hand, as someone who is (anachronistically) fascinated with the analog era of audio recording, this sort of technical manipulation to create entirely new vocals feels... bizarre.

It’s frightening to me that after I’m dead this kind of technology could ostensibly be used to put words I never said into my mouth.
Then again, I’ll be dead, so I won’t care, but my family probably would.

I gave it a listen yesterday and was somewhat unconvinced, however now that I gave it another listen it does sound rather good. and, people: this is really just the beginning. this kind of software is in its infancy. stop and think how good this will be in (say) five years, when the algorithms and sample data have been manipulated to and extent that stuff will sound utterly convincing. maybe in ten years deepfake (and their ilk) reach zenith, we'll be hearing new songs with vocals provided by singers long gone, that will be completely indistinguishable from said singers' own work...where does this stop? guitar, drums, keyboards? eventually, we'll be able to program a "virtual Queen" or "virtual Beatles" from scraps of old unused lyrics found in archives.

Interesting, I could let the whole band play my songs, I doubt if the songs would be better but they would sound like Queen, haha :-)
