The thing is, one song doesn't make an album. Even Roger's new album isn't all 'new' stuff. Perhaps Brian is worried about starting something they might not be able to finish?

I'd like to see it, even as someone who isn't that much of a fan of the collab. If it happens, I hope they sorta merges their styles together, leading to something sorta like Hot Space, but with real instruments and better lyrics (and rockier)
While I don't think he deserves it (like Roger says), I'm open for it and I think it could be cool, if Paul got an album, then I think Adam should at least get one song with the group, That's just my opinion tho

I'd give it a fair chance, but I'm not particularly optimistic. I like Roger's recent work, I like Brian's post-Queen work, but I don't think they have it in them to get that real Queen sound, with or without AL, anymore. They just need Freddie and John - and likewise, I don't think Freddie and John could've done it without Brian and Roger.

This album released to keep the audience in touch with the rescheduled Rhapsody tour. If the covid didn't have happened, the things would have beeen much different with archival releases. It would be very interesting to see what kind of song they would create for/with Adam. I dislike his singing and stage persona, but I would really be curious to see where Rog and Bri stand as authors now. I think Cosmos Rocks was sub par, but for example, No one But You was a fantastic song. As solo material, Brian did 2 fantastic, very strong albums, and I think 46664 was an extremely powerful song in the line of Innuendo and AKOM albums (heavy stuff). Also Rog's new single is a beautiful piece, but I am not a huge fan of the rest of his and Cross' work.. maybe I should give his albums another listen. But in collab with Paul, somehow the writing style was very different and I would say unrecognisable, like they were trying to accomodate Paul and his musical style rather than Queen's. So I wonder what type of music would they choose for Adam, as we know, those guys can surely write from heavy metal and rock all the way to pop and disco, whatever they want... would be nice to see what the guys that wrote some of the world's best music still have to offer.

New music is something we crave from the band They can make new music or kind of like MIH or LMIYHA. The idea of creating new music with Adam or anybody else, only harm can do. The aftermath and what is left behind is more valuable than an album. Remember Five, Robbie Williams, Cosmos rocks /flops, all are low quality. Better nothing than an album with anybody under Queen name. |

i don't like his voice (good as it is) - far too "Broadway" for my liking. regardless of my views, they probably could record something with AL - because he has carried the Queen banner for over a decade now.
i think the issue runs a little deeper than AL:
The problem with older bands is the post-member-departure dilemma. Many 70s bands have a very identifiable sound. Bands like Genesis, Purple and Yes sound evolved with (maybe because of) lineup changes - but (fundamentally) because lineup and style changes were gradual, they were still recognisable - their fans "went with them".
With a decade between Queen's last LP and Cosmos Rocks Queen's lineup change was too significant a jump and the sound was no longer recognisable as intrinsically "Queen". Cosmos Rocks didn't sound like Queen - it sounded like a post-hippy-era-Smile LP. Factor in another decade between CR and whatever they may try to record as QAL, and the leap from CR will be even more unrecognisable. And anything recorded now will sound so far removed from MIH (and the trademark Queen sound), that I fear this may be the overriding reason why the band took the Nashville session no further.
After the damp squib of CR, Brian is possibly wary of putting the Queen name to any new songs, and probably feels their attempts in Nashville didn't feel right. But then, that's understandable - if it doesn't bear the traditional Queen "sound", then it's unworthy, and if it "does sound like Queen" - then the "karaoke Queen" criticisms will come to the fore. The Doctor is caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place.

If they'd lost Freddie after, say, NOTW or Jazz, they could possibly have found another singer and made another ten albums. AC/DC managed it and Genesis thrived after Gabriel left. They could go out on a relatively high after the tour next year. Do they want to potentially risk going out on a damp squib with an unpopular new album? |

Paul McCartney still does it, and I dunno know why I've always classified Brian and Paul on the same sort of active scale. If Paul can do it, why can't Brian?!
I can't imagine Brian and Roger retiring from playing live altogether. Maybe they'll stop doing worldwide tours, but I reckon they'll still perform the odd show. Even if it is a short one or maybe appearing onstage as a guest.

I would be happy to get new Music from Brian and Roger together (or Solo). If they would do it with AL...fine for me. If I don't like it, I won't buy it. For sure we could not expect anything which would be close to classic Queen. If they WANT to do something, they should just do it. They could release it as "Lambert, May & Taylor" to avoid all the "it's not Queen" fuzz and lower the pressure. Time is fading away...for how long do these guys have a chance to remain active...?

The only reason for having a new album with Adam is to go out on tour. They can't play GH forever. and that's as maybe. but there's a plethora of material they can perform live. For instance, some bands have done a double-set where the first half is a classic LP in its entirety and the second half of the gig being hits. I think Def Leppard did this (with Hysteria) and Eagles are touring Hotel California this year? There's also the "other approach" that artists like Bowie adopted, of significantly changing the body of the setlist from tour to tour. with bigger artists like, Bowie, Elton, Queen etc - there's more than enough well-known tracks maybe swap in/out 10-12 tracks per tour - without having a new LP to draw from. |
