I assumed it was the Ludwig one when I saw the P logo from 2011 on the sleeve of the LP. Again I'm no sound expert so what I should have had written was; To me the version of TMLWKY on the LP sounds exactly the same as the version released on Made In Heaven. |

Regarding the dvd/bluray, we know that I Want It All was rescanned from film, but how do the other videos look? Are they badly upscaled? While it is nice that they rescanned the I Want It All video, it bugs me a bit that it is presented completely in widescreen, while is the original video it wasn't. Just look at the middle part in this video (which has the correct aspect ratio) : youtu.be/KYjQM4_EY3o?t=133Ever since the video has been 'upgraded' to complete widescreen for the Greatest Video Hits DVD, the screen of the middle part of the video has been cut op top and bottom and has never been restored again. |

But...cropping that section to widescreen doesn’t even get rid of the black bars on the sides. It serves literally no purpose. Did they all swear an oath 20 years ago to never release their music videos without mucking up the aspect ratio, picture quality, or both? I reckon next year we'll get Knebworth restored in 8K HDR from 35mm, but then only released on YouTube, cropped down to portrait so people can watch it without turning their phones sideways. EDIT: Yes, old man yells at cloud. But the cloud is really bugging me. |

No, not at all your mistake bjorn . I've mistaken the listing for the CD on the official store (i.e Ludwig master) as what is on the LP also. Also, I should have contacted you by now, but I really do apologise for being a di*k about your original post. I shouldn't have been on a rant like that, and I got it badly wrong. Video's are just polished version of the VHS/DVD. They posted The Miracle 'Remasterd'. I heard the original reels were lost? But the description says:
Taken from The Miracle, 1989
Remastered in HD from the original 1-inch videotape masters by Oli Maingay at Vanderquest. Video Restoration by Silver Salt.
I see Video tape so it's probably that. It does look bad sorry to say. These weren't shot on Film tape? or just a lazy remaster?

From what I've gathered, "I Want It All" was rescanned and recompiled from the original film elements. So that video will be true HD. Unfortunately, due to issues with DoRo's two founders and possibly an issue with Queen and them, the other videos, which they directed are being upscaled from the best videotape masters they could find instead of the original elements. From seeing the HD upgrades to A Kind of Magic and Bohemian Rhapsody on their YouTube page, they should still look a lot better than the versions on the Greatest Video Hits DVD. One question I have is did they confirm if there is a set number and, if so, the amount of the picture disc version of the album? |

Does your TV or player have an option to tell you what frame rate the videos are encoded at on the Blu-ray? I presume/fear they’ll have been converted to 24fps or 60Hz, like all Queen/Freddie DVDs and BDs since they moved to Island. |

On my device The Miracle Box Set Blu-ray plays in 1080/24p. I have checked the settings and it is automatically set that way, when I switch that setting off it is in 1080/60p. I have no idea about the Hz things. Hz is the field rate for interlaced content, such as things which were originally shot on analogue video. I know some older TVs (like mine) display 24p content by repeating frames to make it into 60p, while newer ones can often display 24p natively. Sounds like yours can do both. Either way it seems the video on the disc has indeed been converted from its original 25p to 24p, which is annoying but expected. Thanks for checking. If it’s anything like Never Boring, it shouldn’t actually be that noticeable in motion, though of course you’d be best placed to judge that. |

Anyway, as I said before, the most prolific era of the band and just one CD with outtakes "cooked"...Where is Stealin (long version), the complete Hang On In There demos(s), the demos that we already had for decades, etc etc?

I'm not 100% sure but with these new outtakes and the ones we already had for years makes it maybe that The Miracle album is the one we have the most outtakes from?
Regarding to the book, i was hoping for some Queen at work in the studio recording pics. Aside from that, i think it's an okay boxset but i will wait until it drops in price.
The reviewing of the box was nice though. Now we'll wait until we can listen to these new outtakes.

Usually when we say that a solo track had it origins in Queen sessions, normally those tracks weren't sung by Freddie at all, except for a couple examples (Too much love will kill you, even tho that track wasn't meant to be a solo track, it just happened to have legal problems with the other authors and Queen Prod Ltd. and got withdrawn from the album) That applies for Man on Fire from The Works sessions, and the rumoured Queen demos of Freedom Train (Happiness? 1994) and Driven by you, just to quote a couple of songs. Just asking - how do you know there is no take of "Man On Fire" with Freddie on vocals? As far as I'm aware, nothing is known about this track's supposed origins during the sessions for The Works aside from the fact that it was proposed by Roger, and *possibly* demoed. I'd love to be wrong, and would be very interested if you know more than the above. Here a photo of the master reel, below "Your Heart Again" you can see "I feel like a man on fire"  |

Better quality means nothing when the vocals are smeared in vaseline. I'd definitely rather have a slightly low quality copy with authentic vocals than a high quality copy with pitch correction |
