I've done a bit of housekeeping and everything we can implement from the Suggestions Box has been done.
Therefore, one little Etch-A-Sketch wipe later and the Suggestions Box is good to go again.
So, if you think of something we don't already have, please post here. one of us will update as things progress.
One point from the final post in the previous Suggestions Box - if you're simply agreeing with something, and have nothing other to add to the conversation than "I agree" - maybe click the "like" thumbs up icon (top right).
thanks

First of all, I want to congratulate the staff for getting this board into such a good shape so early on! It is a pleasure to use it, for sure. That said, here goes my suggestion list: #1The "Home" and "Forum" links in the navigation bar take you to the exact same place. There's no need for that, and to that effect I propose to remove "Forum" and add a "New threads" link, preferably to the right of "New posts" (which I find hardly useful - it just takes you to a long scroll of disjointed messages), for convenience. Oh, about that... #2The "New threads" feature exists already ( queenchat.boards.net/threads/recent). However, it isn't as useful as I hoped it would be. In other boards, below the thread title/link you get the subforum info (so that you immediately know the title "Queen - Innuendo" below refers to a rare clip upload rather than a discussion about the album or song - we can't see that at the moment). In addition, the author and creation date is also visible within the same line below the thread title/link. Here, we do see the author when looking at the following column in the current feature, but it's not as neat or informative. Lastly, when clicking the thread title, it will always take you to the first page/post. Other boards know when you have visited it and take you to the page you last were. #3There isn't an actual dark theme / mode. Some captures to illustrate this: This is the default theme (which is fine for a light theme). There's a "Black" theme which is kind of misleading because it's just a black background with bright foreground objects on top, so let's try the "DarkSkin" theme: Observe that it's not quite perfect, nor all that dark. The lines and outlines are missing, and as for the color choice, I would try and set a more stark contrast such as white text over black background: a sort of ADATR theme Now, this comes quite close: What you see here is me on Firefox (desktop computer) using a dark mode extension that injects CSS into the page in order to emulate dark themes where none are available. I find myself resorting to these add-ons many times, but this is not a great option for most users or mobile browsing for that matter. #4The current functionality of the "Quote" button is actually that of a "Reply" button. And the "Reply" button works as a "New message" button! Am I the only one who finds it odd? As a matter of fact, the "Reply" button takes you to the "Create Post" function, haha. A "Quote" button should just add quoted messages (this function is called "multiquote") to a new message so that you have the ability to reply to more than one user within the same new post. Again, this place is still getting started and you're doing an excellent job! Just trying to constructively contribute to its usability.

Hi - just a quick reply
#1 - Forum removed from Navigation Menu Bar
#2 - New Threads added to Navigation Menu Bar. The content of New Threads is outside of our control - it's part of Proboards structure and coding. If we need to add anything else, it may require writing a plugin from scratch. if you roll your mouse pointer over the thread title - you'll get the OP post information to be able to see if it's a discussion or a download. there's not much more we can do within Proboards existing structure - save for a plugin.
#3 - DarkSkin definitely exists - other members are using it. Goto PROFILE > EDIT PROFILE > SETTINGS > (scroll down to) FORUM THEME > select DarkSkin > scroll down and select SAVE Note...i've added some container borders and frames to this theme - gives it some more definition.
#4 - Quote Option is definitely working correctly. I've tested this again myself this evening. Multiquotes are much easier to do than some other forums: just select the Cog (far right) of every post you want to Quote, then once you have all selected, click Quote in the last message - each of your chosen Multiquotes will appear in your reply.
I'm wondering if you're encountering some issues while logged in mobile? some settings refuse to function on mobile devices.
Martin

Holy shit, that was fast! Gotta love such a great forum experience, which is only getting better!
I'm not using the mobile version much at all, but every improvement is welcome and I'll keep on testing. I did know about the cog options, but I guess I'm used to other forum formats.
Thank you Martin!

I just observed that I can't edit the contents of a poll after it's been posted. I could remove it, but I'd prefer to just edit it. Can you enable that feature?

Want to request this one again - is it possible to increase the character count per title? It's just too short for sharing section sometimes.

Golden Salmon Chief Mouse sorry guys - don't know what i'm playing at. somehow, i missed both of these requests I just observed that I can't edit the contents of a poll after it's been posted. I could remove it, but I'd prefer to just edit it. Can you enable that feature? sorry - Proboards prefer to maintain authenticity of Polls. They don't allow for contents to be amended after creation. i can't even find a user plugin that will do this. worse still, the code in the Poll Creation forum s'ware is locked. Want to request this one again - is it possible to increase the character count per title? It's just too short for sharing section sometimes. yes. the thread title (size limit) is now extended - i won't tell you how far...but i can't imagine more being needed. thanks fellas.

Any reason why I can't add a poll to a thread created in the "Studio - Demos, remixes, outtakes" section? Bug or intentional?

Just give it a shot: I can add a poll to a new thread in other boards, but I can't do it in that particular subforum. Also, I just checked that it is already possible to add a poll to a thread I made a few days ago in one of the discussion subforums.

Whether editing my existing thread or trying to create a new one, there's simply no button. Is that after you click the cog and choose Edit? I can do that and add a poll to your existing thread. I'm not too hot on this forum software yet, but maybe there's a time limit for editing threads? Brenski may be able to help with that.

Brenski may be able to help with that. It's nowhere to be found, in the cog menu or anywhere else. It just shows up on other subforums, and I can add it to a thread created days ago. Hopefull BrƎИsꓘi (Brenski) can do something about it.

Any reason why I can't add a poll to a thread created in the "Studio - Demos, remixes, outtakes" section? Bug or intentional? Proboards Software will only allow polls to be created in two places: ■ Brand New Thread ■ First Post in an Old Thread. so, if you were the OP in an old thread, then you should be able to go back to it and edit your OP. However, as LF has said (and fixed) - it looks like one of the subs didn't retain the same standard permissions of all other boards here.

Just wondering: I know that the audio/video threads are not publicly viewable, but is there an option to allow public view of thread titles and only require registration to access their content? What about just protecting the links?
The point is for Google and other search engines to index the titles or even the text. Otherwise, it's like we don't have them at all. We won't show up if someone looks for a particular concert or whatever (we are just a "discussion forum"). It could boost user registration now that we're beyond the novelty phase.

i've tried a couple of different plugins - which are supposed to hide all links from guests. i then re-enabled guest access to the download forums, but the links were still visible and clickable. plugins clearly don't work as they should.
will need to look at this, it may take a while

I remember a board where the users had to "thank" or "like" the OP so that the link would be revealed. Very old feature too. I'm sure there are many other formulas available.

Apologies, my post about the multi 9age search should have gone in here.
Is it possible to limit the number of characters allowed in a quote?
Asking for a friend.

I think it was quite bit ambitious, but I had the thought that it would be a rare event where quoting more than 100 characters of what someone said would be necessary in order to contextualise a response

You should now see that long quotes have been tidied up, and there is an 'Expand' button which will make the complete quote visible. Thanks to BrƎИsꓘi for installing the mod. 👍 Unfortunately this will only work with the main forum interface, so you will still see the full quotes if using the Mobile version.
