Is it possible and acceptable to get an edit button for PMs like there is for Queenchat topic responses?

I don't think there's going to be a way to edit PMs once they've been sent. I guess it's like sending an email - once it's gone it's gone. There's probably a reason for it along the lines of them being sent from person to person, rather than publicly displayed.

Even if it was possible, I would be against it. As LF says, once you've sent it, it's done.

as LF says, can't be done. a PM is instant and Proboards don't provide any plugins that allow editing of PMs.
It makes sense really, because if there's a need to edit what's been said, there's the option to simply click
"reply" and post a correction PM.

Here's a few suggestions.
- On the new posts/threads, screen, it would be hugely useful to have another column, or some indication, of which forum each post/thread has been posted in. Many thread titles could mean anything, or are misleading (eg "We did it", "Good Company", "Icon CD" etc.)
- Could you make the big banner at the top a link to the homepage? It's common practice on most forums I use and quite useful.
- This thread is buried pretty deep, as is 'introduce yourself' and other admin threads, down at the bottom under 'other stuff'. Took me a while to find it anyway. Wonder if these should be a bit more visible, stickied somewhere?

Thanks for these. I believe there might be some basic modifications we can make to the forum templates, but we ( BrƎИsꓘi 😄) would need to look into this, and I'm not sure how much could be changed.  The one thing I can answer is that this thread is already stickied. 🙂 |

Because a blank thread called "Queen - Innuendo" could mean any one of half a dozen things.
It makes things way more user friendly and is a common feature on every other forum I use.

Shoutbox on the mobile version would be a good idea! can't be done. Proboards have said this for as long as I've had a PBs acct. however, if you select "Desktop Version" (bottom of home page) -while using a mobile device, you will get some Desktop functionality, including the Shoutbox |

Thanks, no big deal I guess. Maybe not a proboards feature then. Edit, do you know what, I've realise that hovering the cursor brings up a small preview of the OP. So that's an easy go-to to save clicking on links to threads where it's not obvious what they're about. Cool beans. |

Is there a chance to create a repost folder for all the old material so when people upload reposts they upload them there and only new are available at plain sight because many times new posts are lost due to so many old ones reposted. Thanks

darkel i'm not getting what you're asking for. there's a good search facility, so you can search for any string you like, find the thread and post to it. if you're looking for actual downloads etc - you can post a Request (request section only) and if the download already exists then someone will link you to it. in all cases, the Search (top of every page) should do what you want

In live audio shares, a folder for posts that are just for repost material. So when you enter in that part of the forum all in plain sight goona be new sources, mergers or uncirculated material and no old stuff. In a few days you can have two pages of new topics and maybe just a few are really new material. Thanks

Is it possible for there to be a way to sort posts based on their title? This would make browsing the live section much easier for example, because, if everyone keeps to the standard title format (YYYY-MM-DD), it would just sort the threads based on the date.

Just a small one: please update thread titles over time in order to better reflect reality, at least for "alive" threads.
Sorry if that's a bit anal. I used to moderate a tech-related board a while ago and I made sure to update titles as events unfolded, so I'm pretty sensitive about it.

In my opinion, the thread title reflects what the topic was when it was started, and your reasoning that the topic may have progressed and changed, works both ways, as to change the thread titles may then render the original posts 'out of sync' with the amended topic title. Further, as we don't have a hard and fast rule about sticking to topics here (at least, not in the general chat threads), we would be forever changing thread titles if we were to try to keep up with the natural flow of some discussions. I realise that you probably didn't mean for thread titles to be changed to that extreme, but I'm just trying to make the point as to why I don't think it's a good idea. 🙂 And, really, it is still his *new* album, isn't it? It's only been out for a month, after all. Sometimes it's quite nice to go back to the start of a long thread to see how the conversations have progressed, and what was being said earlier on. We wouldn't want to lose that, would we? 😉 Other opinions are more than welcome. 🙂 |
