A lifetime of misery for me interspersed with the odd high…that’s the life of an Evertonian Alas it was ever thus ( unless you're one of the lucky ones born before 1995) A lifelong blue from a family of reds. My great (x 5) uncle was banned from playing for taking bribes at Liverpool. |

Say no more. ¡Hala Madrid! and not much a test of fan loyalty either eh? In a way we, RM fans, have been privileged, yes. La Ligas trophies were to be expected. But when it came to the Camppions League... I still remember our defeat vs Liverpool in 1981. I was 14, then, and it did hurt. Then, it looked as if we had been cursed: Milan, PSV Eindhoven... La Sçeptima (the Seventh) was so out of reach that many of us believed that it would never happen. Truth be told, I remember telling my then girlfriend (now my wife of around 25 years) "I love you more than the Seventh!", and all of a sudden the curse was broken, we beat Juventus, and that's when Los Blancos erupted. There's a lot to live uo to when you are a RMCF fan. So now, after any drawback, I take it easy. Real Madrid somehow always seems to come back! P.S. And I should also mention Spain's World Championship and two EuroCups. Not in my wildest dreams!!! |
