Didn't Brian mention, he was filming something for his solo project during rehearsals for one concert during actual Japan tour? Maybe some new video, as he did for promo of BTTL and AW box sets? But for what song it could be?
I'm not in IG, so these things escape me....
The BTTL / AW boxes were a hit and miss imo...some really good content, some obvious flaws / lack of material
There is still the option of doing a live box set, which is what I'm hoping for. But the track record of these releases does not make me optimistic.
Brixton should be uspscaled to the best 4:3 presentation possibly, and surround HD mix to go with it.
If he has anything else from the tour, he should throw it on there - thinking out loud here;
* did he only record Brixton, or does he have more audio from the tour? I find it strange that he would rely on ONE recording for the live album....
* South America 1992; rough and not quite ready compared to Brixton, but nevertheless an interesting look into the very beginning of the Brian May band. DoRo has the footage - what's the hold up?
* Barcelona 1993; probably lost, but the tv broadcast from Barcelona is really hot. If they had that, it would be such a treat
as far as 1998:
AUDIO
- complete Paris semi-acoustic, please?
- did he record audio of the AW full band tour?
VIDEO
- the Vh-1 thing should certainly be available
- Screens in the arena for the biggest show of the tour; Mosow. Does he still have the footage, or is it another case of "didn't press record" ala Knebworth?
-Pro shot footage from several parts of the St.Petersburg concert. Lost in time, or does he have the footage?
- Albert Hall; filmed by DoRo, and apparently in 3D according to a fairly recent Record Collector Special. In the same interview Brian says they can't find the footage. Somehow I doubt between Brian and DoRo that the recordings are lost. I think there's something gone wrong on the business level between Queen / DoRo. Again, what's the hold up?
(at the very least, the audio of Albert Hall should be available?)
If he does it right and throws everything in it, there's a potentially brilliant "Brian May Live" box set here, or at least, two very good slightly smaller releases.
Or; he could drop the ball and we don't get anything, apart from perhaps a Brixton package.
I'd welcome a dvd/vinyl any day, but considering what COULD be done, and that it's kind of a now or never scenario - a Brixton-only release would be such a let down
