Queen or....Kiss?? When a music group has more merchandise than music...... At least KISS actually releases big boxsets for their important anniversaries. to be fair, Kiss has done two box sets, and they are a bit hit and miss. Destroyer, EXPENSIVE, had the blu ray audio - which in ANY box is my #1 priority, lots of memorabilia, but an audience bootleg recording from the era.... Creatures - blu ray audio again, a very nice compilation of soundboard recordings (all of which have leaked in complete form since), memorabilia...great stuff - but INSANELY expensive Queen has done NOTW and The Miracle (not counting Rainbow / Hammersmith) - but sober price tags compared to KISS. The lack of bu ray audio is stunning to me (and the lack of high def video where the source material allow for it) , but there is lots of great content on both boxes

Well, at least there's that recent Funko Pop set... I would buy that instead of the tacky rubbish QPL has put up.

To reply to the above without quoting... I've always thought that Queen should've done AT LEAST a pair of comprehensive boxed sets (blu-ray, DVD) for each decade with several varying quality gigs included (for "archeology" ... Like KISS did with KISStory At least it would get rid of the fear from Brian of releasing a product that isn't 100% perfect in performance etc. Big highlights of course would be Houston, and the "concert for Kampuchea" and maybe some Crazy Tour stuff. Interviews, TV blips etc But FULL shows of course in the chronology like KISS did.

Lazy and uninspired, another missed opportunity. They could have easily produced a semi interesting anniversary release of the album with minimal effort. Why not give us; Demos of the album tracks such as Radio Ga Ga before Freddie reworked it All the tracks we know we worked on during sessions that appeared on solo releases etc in their demo/work in progress versions (Let Me Live, Man Made Paradise, Man on Fire, LMIYHA, Love Kills, TMBMTLTT etc) I Dream of Christmas - no doubt Brian had a demo version he presented to the band for consideration Some interesting live tracks from the Works tour These things tend to come out for the christmas market, so it's too early for such a release this year IF we are getting one.

Some of the stuff on there is not sourced from master tapes, and the quality is thereafter.... The idea of compiling stuff in anthologies, though? brilliant.

My apology. KISSology. Yes... much of it was simply archival footage which would work for me if all they had was stereo broadcasts or feeds.
That's just me though.i thought they were great summations of the times in the bands career although they probably have actual sound boards of tons of concerts, especially Kulick era KISS

The problem we have right now in the present day is that they are appealing to the new wave of fans who arrived on the scene after Bohemian Rhapsody. The majority have no idea about the history of the band (still believing what they saw in that film) and have no interest in learning. By putting out what basic, familiar items they know that they can ensnare the big bucks that these fans have for buying product. It's a win-win as the creative minds really don't have to try very hard and yet they know they'll always scoop up the big bucks. What's annoying is that years ago it could've been reversed by selling to the long-time, hard-core fans (basically those before B.R.) who would've bought all the rare stuff and been more open to t-shirts with unreleased pics or different designs on them (and in an era where downloading and streaming wasn't quite as advanced, they would've made more money). Sadly the those fans are now a dying breed - and QP and the band are only interested in the fans of today, many of whom I'm sure rate Adam above Freddie (!!!!)
I've been around long enough to remember the Anthology talk when it first started post-the Beatles version - I hate to say it, but I can't see this ever happening. Before long not only will the band not be around, but the super-fans who have the knowledge and history to help won't be either. Let's be honest, unless it's quick and easy the band have no interest in their legacy - I mean after all, will we ever see these book by Greg Brooks with all the merchandise in them? New fans won't be interested, and as I understand it the books are now heading into a 3rd volume. At the huge cost they'll be only the really dedicated will buy them all, and the price tag may put off the new fans who may have taken a look. These books should've been put out when the older generation of fans, those who collected these items, were still the bigger audience.

I see they actively started promoting the anniversary of the album "The Works" in shorts. It’s strange that they didn’t do this with the Miracle album or limited themselves to a couple of clips. I understand that these are not hints that something will happen this year, but still.

Works Anniversary is a joke. A lazy output, they could have at least done a 12" collection featuring all the 12" mixes..(Ga Ga, Break Free, Hard Life, Prowl, Machines (intrumental), Break free, Windows, Hammer, TGIC......) Would have thought a vinyl edition and Cd would have also been a quite easy output especially since most of the album had extended mixes somewhere. Not banking on any boxset.....as we've had lots of so called rumours which have never actually come to fruition. I would have thought with all the emphasis on Live material from QOL this past year, we were being prepped for some kind of LIVE vinyl boxset tbh with new additions and remastered old ones. Nevermind, I'd settle for a full 'Live Killers' remastered triple vinyl including all the bits cut from the tour. I can dream.
