hello everyone, today I asked myself a question but I have not found a satisfactory answer. can you help me? Queen have "turned" fifty and what did they offer on the market that were interesting for the event (I do not consider "Queen the greatest" on youtube an interesting thing at all)? it seems that they want to reward themselves more individually with a useless new version of Back to the Light and, hopefully well, with a new album by Roger but as Queen… nothing? Did I miss something? thanks and good life A reissue of GH that is in fact the same product that has existed for 40 years, just with a cardboard slipcase. And, some coloured cassettes. A YouTube series that is a rehash of previous documentaries from the 40th anniversary. And a f*cking teddy bear. In terms of Queen output, yeah. That's it.

The bear is the best thing to come out and we are our legally obliged to not criticise it. Actually all we can hope for is that they are saving something for the holiday season to maximize profits

I remember going to Target and getting Queen's Greatest Hits album (on vinyl), and then like a month or two later, I heard that they were doing the reissue and I was like "Seriously?!?"

Let's not forget the amazingly supercool android game "Rock Tour". No people, the REAL 50th anniversary of this sunken band is here on this board. Here is where the real gems and here is where people celebrate the 50th with cool stuff that the band should've put out.

This week has a short interview from John Deacon about South America in 1981, which is new to me, and very funny that he hum a little bit of the football chant.

Queen The Greatest episode 26: From Under Pressure straight to Radio Ga Ga and ignoring Queen’s last USA tour with Freddie. Shame ! Another all time low.

Ignoring all the downs in the band's career which Hot Space was. Really really sad. So no reporting about Sun City. Maybe this so called Queen the greatest serie is one of the big disasters for this 50th anniversary. Making my distance between the people behind the band even bigger.

Smh, didn't even talk about Hot Space, what's the point of this series if they're just going at random for most of the episodes?

I was wondering why they went from South America to Radio Gaga all of a sudden. I'm guessing they're gonna skip out The Works, maybe replace it with talks about Freddie, Brian & Roger's solo works at the time, and then go straight to Live Aid.
I just have to do a double take on that bear. Like "for real?"

It's called Queen - The Greatest, not Queen - Warts n AllCan you imagine career retrospectives/highlight reels for the following that include their low points? I don't like the quality and the whole presentation of Queen during these YT series. However for every big band - artist as the time goes by, especially after 50 years, what matters is the big picture and not the details. The big picture of their works is defined them. TTheir best and most creative years is what defined them. I wish these videos were better and focused on how good composers, musicians and influence have created through the years.

I see where your coming from, but considering the importance Hot Space has on the Queen Story, I was quite disappointed when it didn't have an episode. Also, 'Days Of Our Lives' talked about the lows in Queen's career as well, despite it's name, Essentially every Beatles documentary brings up the problems the band had during the 'White album' and 'Let It Be', even KISStory talked about their lows! (Them being essentially a dead band, and I Was Made For Loving You for example LMAO) I'm sorry, but you're argument doesn't make sense, considering how many other "in-house" retrospectives focus on the highs and lows as well. It's like if someone made a review of a movie, and only talked about the good stuff and none of the bad stuff.

It literally says it covers Queen's KEY-MOMENTS, and last time I checked, Hot Space was a pretty big key-moment, considering it shifted their gears to a more "disco" rock category, which didn't go over well and was a factor as to why their success in North America had declined.

From that view, I can understand. It's just odd to not talk about it, considering they talked about how Body Language (and I Want To Break Free) was banned on MTV, which only just touches the tip of that whole situation.

this isn't about the "lows" it's about the "highs". Under Pressure was a major high. point made was about Hot Space, not Under Pressure. Problem for QPL is it's difficult to discuss UP without including HS. The active members of the band don't like HS, so the album is ignored. it may be (later on in the series) that there's and "80s hits" episode where they can include UP aside from HS. who knows.

It would be interesting to hear John's present day opinion on Hot Space. . . . Freddie's too if he was still here.

Yeah, would be cool to hear his thoughts nowadays, but unfortunately, it'll probably never happen, As John is retired and has stayed out of the lime-light since 1997 (with a few small appearances from then to at least 2001, like the one at the Save PopBitch Party)
