"We’ve unearthed a few outtakes and bits and pieces, and I’m writing some new retrospective liner notes." What a joke this has become....... The only track that was, as such, unreleased, is the Ford Ad version of DBY. No, it `s on the 12" single from 1991......

It's you. Brian's logo is oval, has an outer 'ring', and more words. I'd agree they both look cheap though.

Although the contents are a bit disappointing and it's way overprice when compared to other artists boxsets, I just pre-ordered the collectors edition boxset from Amazon.fr. There it was the lowest price I could find and I really want to feel the joy of unboxing such a collectors item again. I might pick up the 2CD edition later on for convenience reasons. However, again a missed opportunity from the QP camp. Us still buying it, isn't helping to prevent such below par releases in the future, though... I decided to cancel my pre-order of the boxset. Price simply doesn't weigh up to the contents for me. Ah well, more money available to discover some new music.

Listening to Resurrection now on Spotify. While it is nice we can finally stream this album and song, it sounds rather thin to me. Especially the kick drum lacks low end. I have no idea if it was mixed this way, but still.
Edit: the bass is very thin-sounding as well.

I'm seriously considering canceling my order as well. I figure I'll have it with my Apple Music subscription anyway.

Also, it looks like Brian is working on a new video for Back to the Light. Queenpod patreon members were granted exclusive photos of him on set. Cool.

The Japanese edition of the Back to the Light reissue comes with bonuses if you buy the CD or Deluxe Edition with two CDs (actually, all of the CDs are SHM-CDs). At most stores like HMV or CD Japan, you get this B2-size tour poster replica: At Tower Records exclusively, you get an A4-size clear file folder with an image of that tour poster: At Amazon exclusively, you get their "mega jacket" which is basically a cheap, low resolution reproduction of the album cover that is slightly smaller than the size of an LP, on flimsy paper. At all stores in Japan, purchasing the 2-CD deluxe edition gets you a "miniature" reproduction of the full 20-page tour program from the Back to the Light tour, in English: The vinyl release and box set are imported, so no Japanese bonuses for those.

Anyone who’s ordered the Japanese CD version, prepare to wait a little longer for it. The release date has been put back to 11th August (according to CDJapan).

Regarding Resurrection, does anyone know the source of this:
To me, it sounds too clean to have been extracted from the stereo mix, because using such software doesn't usually mute all the instruments to such degree. Is there a multitrack floating around perhaps? The song features one of my favourite vocal performances by Brian and I would love to hear the whole track with the vocals isolated in such good quality.

The 'Brian Army'? Come on, this is just laughable now What self respecting person is honestly going to walk around wearing a t-shirt with that on it?

The 'Brian Army'? Come on, this is just laughable now What self respecting person is honestly going to walk around wearing a t-shirt with that on it? I truly hope that this sh*tty release doesn't even chart for having teased with stuff that he was not going to include. He hasn't made any references to the BTTL album since 1998, except for a pathetic version of Driven By You played above a moving van at some kind of racing event, and Last Horizon in 2005 that actually ended becoming a Queen song. Suddenly, it's all about BTTL. I hate when artists do this. It reminds me of politicians on campaign.

From an interview with the Telegraph:
May is contemplating making a long-cherished solo instrumental album – “if I’m spared, as my mum used to say”.
Yes please Brian.

Thanks! I'd completely forgotten about the games. There also seems to be a version without the lead vocal. youtu.be/XEgO5Tk0N84

I was going to check if that was different to the original Cozy Powell 'Ride To Win' version, but strangely that seems to have been removed from YouTube. 🤔

Weird how stuff like this never used to be on the Trainspotters' Guide website!

Thanks for all your input! Speaking of different versions of Resurrection... I seem to have a vague recollection of hearing (a supposed) demo by Jamie Page called "Ride By Night" or "Ride The Night"(?), which was developed into "Ride To Win" and further into "Resurrection".
Now, this must have been well over 20 years ago (back when the internet was still a relatively "new" thing) and I have no recollection of how the demo itself sounded nor do I have a copy of it. Though I might have some 3.5-inch floppy disks (remember those?) still in storage somewhere, I highly doubt that I made a copy of the file back then. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to find it again now and hear how many elements from the demo were retained after Brian took over the development. I don't suppose anyone has access to that demo, or can even recall hearing it, or maybe my memory is playing tricks on me and no such demo even exists?

As far as I know only a snippet of the Ride The Night track by Jamie Page was leaked, though apparently the full song was available to certain collectors. But as far as I remember, Jamie Page's version didn't actually feature Brian - he just wrote the original basis of the song upon which Cozy build Ride To Win and Brian added his parts to make it Resurrection. Jamie talks about it a bit here: www.therockpit.net/2012/interview-jamie-page/
