Doesn't track 5 start with a J? Jungle something? Nobody's going to put two versions of the same song sequentially on an album....
It is probably just a list of songs that are ready or possibly available for release. The in-house Electric Fire CDr from May 1998 also had two Haircuts versions on it being the album version and the Club Cut remix.
My bet is that the Purple Version of Gangsters will be a JP bonus track.

Great to see Spike and Tyler joining Rog on tour. No sign of Neil though! I've pre-ordered the vinyl, can't wait And now it looks like Neil is joining the fun! Got a link? Didn't see that

Wasn't Heaven For Everyone originally written for her?
Never heard of that one before. Where did you get that info from? Was she supposed to sing the song or was it written for her as a dedication?
It's on Wikipedia as well - but no sources there either. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Made_in_Heaven

You didn't hear this from me, but there are plans afoot for a special one off appearance by Joan Armatrading on October 14th in Plymouth. They are tenatively planning to do one of her songs and one Roger/Queen song. (Don't Lose Your Head?) WOW! Just wow! Fingers crossed. Cheers, Ogre-

Wasn't Heaven For Everyone originally written for her? i'd heard that story too. i'd have loved a Joan version of the song too. I don't think there's a bad version of HFE, the UK Cross version is great, as is the US version. however, i recommend to everyone - listen to the MIH version with a decent set of headphones - and really soak up the genius of the vocal layering from 4:16. my best guess: Roger, David Richards and (esp) Brian knew there wasn't much to work with, but the work that went into that last 1'20" - to make it sound like Freddie was there as a physical studio presence - an actual band recording. it's a thing of beauty.

Totally agree. I can't believe it when I read that some people don't consider it a "real" Queen album. The amount of work that went into it, the overall production values etc. Easily my favorite Queen-album soundwise. I wish all their albums sounded that good. Such an amazing production. For a long time I hoped we would see an in-depth "making of" documentary or book somewhere, but I realize that Brian and Roger probably don't want to spoil it. I would love to read extensive interviews about the sessions, people who worked for the band during this period, David Richards etc. It will never happen, but if there's one period of time I'd love to see featured in an extensive boxset it would be the 1988-1997 sessions - starting with the work they did in 1988 for The Miracle and ending with No-One But You and the remixes/remakes of I Can't Live With You and Tie Your Mother Down (though I'm still not sure that TYMD was actually ever worked on, maybe it was just incorrect information on the fanclub-website).

I might be wrong but I think there’s a video interview from 1988 with Roger saying he had written the song for her. I think he’s drunk so he might say a few slightly unsavory things (if memory serves) but I do believe he confirmed it there.
I also feel like Armatrading herself confirmed it somewhere, but that memory is more hazy.

According to Ultimatequeen page, "The Price Of Love - This is a cover of The Everly Brothers 1965 hit which reached no 2 and was apparently recorded by Roger for the 1998 'Electric Fire' album. No recordings have been circulated yet though, so nobody really knows for sure.". Press release stated a cover of "novelty song from 1965" - just a coincidence?

Everley brothers are hardly a novelty act.
Jonathan King is a novelty act, just to pick a name at random...

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. The album is partly inspired by lockdown so I would hazard a guess the cover version could apply to that. If I were a betting man I’d suggest a song called ‘Things’ which is from the 60’s and has lines ‘Every night I look out of my window, thinking about the things we used to do’…..theme of the song is someone looking back at what they used to do with their partner and includes lines such as:
Things - like a walk in the park Things - like a kiss in the dark etc
There would be some room to update the lyric to reflect lockdown in an upbeat way.
It is just a guess though.

The song was released by Bobby Darin. Didn't the original press release reference a novelty hit from 1965? For non-Brits - we have a long tradition of songs becoming briefly popular against all reason. Agadoo, Grandad, Shaddup Your Face, Mr Blobby as examples that would illustrate if you were brave enough to go to YouTube. They're generally cheesy ear worms, and nobody knows anyone who'll admit to buying a copy as they fly up the charts.

From 1965 he covered with Jeff Beck People Get Ready and from the same concert, we got SINT on Fun On Earth. Would be nice to have that on album...

People often compares Roger's voice with Rod Stewart's. I believe that "People Get Ready" is the only song that was sang by both of them, and thanks to that, the huge difference between them can be easily noticed.
I still hope that that's not the "1965 song", given that it's been already available for ten years. I hope we can get a different tune. I was actually dreaming of "I Feel Fine" that he sang at a Beatles tribute in 2002 and its recording never surfaced (only I Am The Walrus and Jealous Guy from that gig), but "IFF" was released in 1964, so that's not the one.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MJLi5_dyn0I can actually kinda hear Roger sing the "C'mon everybody, now let's play a gaaaaame" part. Maybe with political names etc. And the "game" in the title matches with the "fun" in the description above.

He also done live rendition of 1965 song The Shangri- Las - Remember ( Walking in the Sand)... too many songs from around 1694-1966 he has covered :-) "Shapes of things" (1966) with The Coatttail Riders (already released...).... we have to wait...

I might be wrong, but wasn't I Wanna Testify a 60s cover? Maybe he's dusting that off?

Just a heads up that if you order the Japanese edition of Outsider on SHM-CD, you get the two bonus tracks plus a B2-size tour poster replica at most stores like HMV and CD Japan. If you buy from the Universal Music store, the poster will not come folded up. At Tower Records, instead of the poster you get a clear file folder with the tour poster design, and at Amazon.co.jp, you get a 24cm x 24cm album cover replica.

Fantastic information given here, thanks for posting it. I’ve ordered it from CD Japan and it was very reasonable p&p to the UK, only £10.

Here are some links if anyone else wants the Japanese edition of Outsider with bonus tracks and first-press bonus item: Fantastic information given here, thanks for posting it. I’ve ordered it from CD Japan and it was very reasonable p&p to the UK, only £10. Nice! I would also keep an eye on Amazon UK, as they now have a listing for Outsider on SHM-CD as a Japanese import, although it's currently not available for pre-order.

Thanks to everyone for the info on the extra tracks on the Japanese SHM-CD. I'll keep an eye on Amazon for it. Although I find it really annoying that any country gets any extra tacks at all!

Heads up to those of you who pre-ordered the Outsider Japanese SHM-CD from Japanese sites: check your local Amazon. The SHM-CD is available for pre-order on the Canadian and American Amazon sites shipped from your local Amazon, with no additional shipping/import fees. It's not available yet on Amazon UK, and I didn't check others.
The Amazon shipping is a week later, on October 8th, but the cost may be cheaper depending on what shipping service you compare it with. It may even arrive sooner.
Of note: the Amazon listings mention "a bonus track" and "includes bonus track," but the Universal Music Japan site still indicates two bonus tracks. Also, there's no indication of any additional bonus materials, whereas ordering from Japan directly will get you a poster or file folder.

Good catch - I ended up canceling the Amazon Japan order and ordered directly via Amazon.ca -- saved me $10. I'm okay not getting the poster.
