Interesting how Knebworth is mentioned specifically. Hopefully unseen footage from that day, even if only a few seconds... typically, the BBC will not spend money on paying for previously unseen footage. it's just not how they usually work. we can but hope this to be an exception. |

Indeed. Simon Lupton is mentioned as executive producer. So there's a chance some snippet from the vault is used. Otherwise it'll be the old same - but absolutely magnificent (in my view) - images from Knebworth from Magic Years. |

The Independent feature on this states:
“The Final Act will cover Mercury’s last ever live performance…”
Will this be the performances with Montserrat which, whilst in front of an audience, were mimed, or will this be his true final live vocal performances in the ‘Time’ musical?
Potential for some professional recordings of those ‘Time’ performances to be aired from Dave Clark’s archives??

I suspect that this will be a mash-up of the Days of Our Lives documentary and the Freddie Mercury documentary of 2012. If I can get it on YouTube I'll watch it, because without a VPN I can't get into iPlayer in the USA.

His last live performance was Time, right? Yes, that was his last truly live performance with live singing and everything. He also did the mimed Barcelona appearance in the November of 88. |

I wouldn't jump on the press too much for calling Knebworth Freddie's last performance. It was his last performance with Queen and that's what the majority of people care about. It's also not like he did a few big solo tours after or joined another band and they are ignoring that. He had a few songs at a one-off performance - not even his own gig and a mimed performance that in the grand scheme of things don't exactly mean a whole lot. As big Queen/Freddie fans it means a lot to us obviously....

The BBC release also states the following, so they seemingly can’t tell a live performance from an overtly mimed one either….
“…..and highlights from the prestigious Montreux Pop Festival, where Freddie and the boys showed the rest how live performance was done”.

I doubt they will have fixed a time for broadcast yet. Certainly they'd not have had one when that press release was written. Will hazard a guess of last week of Nov for obvious reasons.. exactly thirty years later. THIRTY years.  |
