It's not my least favourite album of theirs but it's probably my least played of the ones I do play, mainly because it does sound quite dated now and the production wasn't all that wonderful to begin with.
No terrible songs on it - S&D and Jesus are probably the weakest tracks for me, but those are certainly not among the worst in the Queen catalogue.
I'd like to have had a remix if they were going to do anything for the 50th, perhaps some live stuff that's been said to be floating around, and if there were any outtakes, they'd be more than welcome as well.
November is often a popular time of year for Queen releases, so I guess we can still hope, but I won't be holding my breath.

According to this article on QueenOnline.com, Greg Brooks will be at the Freddie Mercury Birthday Party bringing with him from the band's archive one of Freddie’s stage microphones and half mic stands (lol???) and some things from the debut album. Maybe an early preview of new content? Anyone here is going to the party?

oh my god who thought that ad design was a good idea, holy hell
Anyway, I love this album more now than I did when I first heard it, probably because of its naivety, and I find the rubber ball-sounding drums somewhat charming. It’s a little unfocused here and there, but as the good Lord (Fickle) above said, there’s no real clunkers, and I’ve come to appreciate some of the “fringe” tracks – Doing All Right, Great King Rat, Jesus, even the Seven Seas instrumental – more now than earlier in my youth. (No clue why, but I guess you get softer when you’re rounding the bend towards 40.) Modern Times and Son and Daughter are a little derivative but hey, ya gotta start somewhere.

Although it's never been my favourite Queen album I consider their debut LP to be possibly the best 1st album released in the classic rock genre. My favourite songs on it are Doing Alright, Great King Rat, My Fairy King and Liar. My least favourite is Seven Seas of Rhye.
Like LF previously stated, I'd like outtakes, live tracks and a remix to be included for bonus material.

Am I the only person who really likes Son & Daughter? I dont listen to Queen I all that much but when I do I find I like it more than I remember. If there is any early outtakes etc I'd love to hear them.

No. I can name quite a few that sit above it IMO: Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin Montrose - Montrose Crosby Stills & Nash - Crosby Stills & Nash Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel Heart - Dreamboat Annie Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz George Harrison - All things Must Pass and my own personal favourite....The Cars - The Cars

In my view, Blizzard of Ozz is the closest in quality to Queen of those listed just above, and I would also rate Heart's debut pretty highly.

I wonder if they have ever found the infamous Hangman acetate in the archives, Greg told to Queen Italia Fans in Nov.22 that they have sorted acetates from 71-73 recently

maybe they'll announce a 50th anniversary boxset, this surely couldn't be something they'd just ignore, hopefully anyway

I wonder if they have ever found the infamous Hangman acetate in the archives, Greg told to Queen Italia Fans in Nov.22 that they have sorted acetates from 71-73 recently People still take him seriously??? ...or ever did? i'd apply more knowledge/credit as to the content of Queen's archives to a goldfish than I would the actual archivist

Justin Shirley Smith has been announced to take part at the FM Birthday Event as well, where he'll be playing stuff from Queen I. I'm fully expecting a box set now in October at this point, as the band haven't been that forthcoming in the past with playing outtakes in public since people starting taping them at conventions.

For me Jesus is the only song I don't really like on the LP. It's just a bit cringey for my tastes.

Imagine whole album being re-mixed the way that Mad The Swine has been mixed for the release as a B-side to the Headlong.... That would vastly improve the sound. A boxset with outtakes and maybe the early Imperial gig would be nice!

If (IF) there is a box set I think it’d be neat if they reinstated Mad The Swine to its spot between Great King Rat and My Fairy King, like they did with The Miracle and Too Much Love.

Ozzy and Harrison were experienced and accomplished musicians, their solo debut albums weren't their first rodeos. But I do agree Queen's debut, although a very strong one, wasn't the finest. They still had a lot to mature. Had Queen II been their first album, that would've been much more of a statement of who they were and what they were set out to do. I'll also agree with you on Led Zep, and also add Black Sabbath's and Jimi Hendrix Experience's debut albums here. They aren't just great albums, they were foundational in their genres and highlighted very well what we could expect from those bands in the following years.

Back when they were playing outtakes in public, it was no precursor to box sets. I think expecting anything at anytime is a mug's game at this point. QOL had a two year thread of people pointless predicting a Miracle box set. At some stage someone was right, but the build up to that point was boring beyond belief

Looking at a slightly bigger picture. Brian is about to release a fairly expensive boxset. Maybe QP don’t want to go into competition with themselves over sales to a limited fan base. These releases after all are not Greatest Hits. I’m hoping for a November/December release for the Queen album, but like many here I’m sceptical about seeing anything.

"After the plague, the old stargazer will revisit the land he once visited" could predict Brian May's Gold Series, NASA's Artemis missions, a future season of Cosmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson, or even Buzz Aldrin's next holiday trip.

Although it would be very timely, considering the 50th Anniversary, I'd be quite surprised if we got another Queen box set only a year after the last one.
Then again, I have something in the back of my mind about a contractual obligation to release one (new?) product each year? Was that with Universal / Island? I guess if they have nothing else planned, that might make a box set more of a possibility.
