It’d be interesting if they did something like what Bowie’s estate did with Conversation Piece and Divine Symmetry, with period-specific recordings, outtakes, demos, remixed albums, and BBC sessions. Of course the Queen BBC sessions have been released already so maybe a live show – that early concert Brian was talking about a few years ago?
Wishful thinking, I know. My expectations are low, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Regarding the John Anthony interview, I wonder why he's involved and seemingly not Roy Thomas Baker? Also, just out of curiosity I was checking out the Queen album on Wiki, and although it might not be reliable, the last paragraph is interesting: Other recordings from this period, such as two Smile tracks ("Silver Salmon" and "Polar Bear"), "Rock and Roll Medley" (a live encore staple from the era), and the infamous track "Hangman" (whose existence was long denied officially, beyond live concert recordings), have surfaced in the form of a studio acetate disc.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_(Queen_album)Re Hangman. Don't forget that anyone can edit Wiki. I don't for one second not believe Brian doesn't have a personal acetate of Hangman, even if there's no tape copy in the Queen vault, and with the Ai tech that I'VE been using (never mind what Peter Jackson has), there should be no reason why QPL couldn't seperate the vocals, edit them to make them acceptable for today's standards and then pop them back into the mix for a release. They could even just put out an Instrumental if they wished.

Is there even a rumour? John S was very direct about being unwilling to share any of Hangman , no listening, no lyric transcriptions and no copies. He was also very capable of winding up anyone who pushed too hard to find out about his collection. especially if he percieved them as leeching . I doubt anyone here has heard the track . I wish I was in a position to say I'd heard it, but sadly the Mrs intervened on that one. 13 years ago, John invited me to stay the week and help him catalogue his collection, but we'd recently had a baby and the Mrs said "no". Sadly that opportunity never arose again. It's all speculation now, but I do feel as though John would have let me listen to it ;-(

I paste here the last John Antony's Facebook post about his interview with Brian and Roger. He talks about an "upcoming definitive boxset". Who knows... "Had the most heartwarming and heartfelt 5 hour lunch with Brian and Roger They really reiterated how grateful they were and how much they valued my input, intelligence and my absolute conviction that they were going to make it when nobody else did! We were pushed apart it seems by a very devious person for that persons partners interests. Eee.... Rock and Roll how Machiavellian...well I never. My and their thoughts will be part of a large 'liner notes section on a an upcoming definitive box set. So I didn't have to do an interview (just as well, as I had terrible hay fever} and anyhow reigniting our friendship and acquaintance was so much more important to us all and we shared a lot of very personal stuff. I listen to their remixed demos with them and it was like 52 years were yesterday, we had exactly the same relationship, points of view and senses of humour. I am a tired and happy man after a long journey and a longer but very worthwhile day for this old geezer. I felt the love man! Here is a snap of Brian and Roger in Smile, their first band when I signed them to Mercury Records in 1969 and produced their and my first single record at Trident studio" Link: www.facebook.com/share/p/6vdjJGLi7V1A4PWt/I would buy the boxset in an heartbeat!!

I saw that on FB and wow! It's really happening remixed demos! I wonder who that devious person is. Actually I spent some time scrolling through his profile a while back before this Queen I launch was a thing, seems like he sure did have some Opinions about some things with Queen and Smile, not all of them wholesome... but I guess all of that behind now that they've reunited for this. Don't get too excited. "Remixed demos" could simply be studio sessions of the like we heard at convention 20+ years go. It doesn't necessarily mean the "De Lane Lea" demos, though that would be nice. The only issue with that of course, is with their penchant for releasing only one "demo" of a song in these boxsets, that's half the album we've already heard. I'd rather hear other takes. Now I wouldn't complain if they did a remix of the album itself, with Mad The Swine thrown back into the correct place, especially if it included a surround mix.

It would be great if they restored the "Mad The Swine" song. I think there is no need to explain that we have been listening to “Been Here Before” since 1991, but if you listen carefully, you will immediately understand that before “Been Here Before” there is also “I've”

I don’t know how much you can trust the wiki, but this is what it says about the track I mentioned above "Another track that proved problematic was "Mad the Swine", which was to be the fourth track on the album between "Great King Rat" and "My Fairy King". Baker and Queen disagreed over the drum sound and percussion, and it was left off the album." It would be great if they made a vinyl version of the album that featured this track . A similar thing was done with “Too Much Love Will Kill You,” which was released only on the vinyl version of the Miracle album

I did think a special version restoring it to the tracklist would be nice, exactly as you say like TMLWKL. Both songs are utter pish IMO, but I think it should be done. I think the smart money is on it being dropped in the first place because it was just too weak. The drums story added on with hindsight to make it sound like more of an academic decision when they dug it out for use as a b-side 20 years later. For me, its value was in its rarity rather than the actual quality of the song. And of course, now it's been available longer than it was actually unavailable in the first place so even that has diminished somewhat.

I think the Queen catalogue NEEDS to be taken over by someone else for sure. A few minutes ago Greg Brooks just gave an update about the Queen ‘I want it all’ book and that it has now been delayed once again until next year! It’s so funny to me that they have all these “delays” constantly and the way they work has no consistency what so ever. But here is Greg’s very long explanation and mentions they have another album in the “pipeline” for an anniversary release.
“Hello Everyone
So… the ongoing saga of my I WANT IT ALL! Queen memorabilia book needs some explanation again…
I’d like to add my own frustration, to yours, at the news Omnibus Press put out last Thursday, that they've reluctantly put back the publication of the book, one final time, to early next year. There are good reasons behind that difficult decision, but even so it’s hugely frustrating for many of you and I’m genuinely sorry for anyone who’s annoyed by this. I hope this information (much of it new) helps a bit…
I must first tell you that the book is extremely close to completion, so much so that I can tell you exactly how many pages the main chapters span (SEE BELOW). The pages look amazing. I’m hugely impressed by what I see and hope that you will be too.
Though we expected to release the book this year, we’ve had to put it back to early next year largely because I could not guarantee the band approving it in time. It’s 484 pages, showing a thousand+ items as well as Introductory text and lots of captions, so the band could in theory ask for changes that span only weeks, or several months. They may want certain parts of it restructured or even removed. That crucial aspect is unpredictable, as is the printing and shipping processes in these difficult times. For these reasons, the publisher has given themselves some extra breathing space in case there are any such issues. Hopefully, the book will be Queen-approved quickly, and then off to be pressed in quick time too. Then I’ll share the definite release date with you and we can begin to organize some fan-hosted simultaneous launch events.
I would like to share this thought with you if I may. It would ordinarily be the case that the public wouldn’t know about a book until it was just about to be published. In some respects I wish it were the case that I hadn't mentioned this project yet, thus avoiding the frustrations we’ve had, and I dare say some of you feel the same way, but of course that wasn’t possible with this project because such a large proportion of it is contributions from fans and collectors around the world. If I had kept this book quiet until now, I could not have appealed for fans to send me photos of their rarest, most interesting and significant posters, records and worldwide treasures (which hundreds of people did respond to, and continue to), and the book would now feature only Brian's collection. Though that would have been a decent book, running to 400-500 pages, there would have been masses of missing collectables, all very beautiful, all significant and historically interesting, and that would have been intolerable. I really could not do that.
It has been irritating to many fans to see IWIA delayed something six or seven times now, and I too am upset that it's taken so much longer than originally planned. However, I remind myself that the book has grown vastly during its long and enthralling development, in so many unforeseen ways. It was originally going to be ONE book of 340 pages, but then, as most of you know, it snowballed into a mighty THREE volume monster. And, if those volumes are successful, I plan to end with a volume FOUR, covering the equally magnificent solo work – so that you truly do have IT ALL! The page total will be close to 2,000 by then, and will constitute the most ambitious focus on any music artist’s history of memorabilia, ever attempted.
From my perspective, I always wanted to offer the definitive work, and I believe we have – as close as that is possible, I mean, given that Queen is still a functioning band that relentlessly generates new memorabilia, merchandise, and collectible artefacts, every month (most of which I’ll squeeze into Vol III). None of this would have been possible without the help of so many brilliant Queen fans, friends and collectors, of course, and it also wouldn't have been possible to do in just one book.
Queen never ever compromised in their work, and I refused to do so with this project. The publisher felt the same way. Every single item that a fan sent me, that I said would feature over the trilogy, does feature, and every one of those dedicated contributors has been rightly thanked in the credits. In fact, I saw the designed Acknowledgements spread last week and there are so many people, that it spans two entire pages. It makes for fascinating reading and is, in its own little way, an insight into how many people contributed and what territories in the world are represented. In some ways, the Acknowledgements are a mini history of the book, as well as a Who’s Who of Queen Experts past and present. I have included the fans and friends that are sadly no longer with us.
A point of trivia now, that may or may not be of interest: I designed the two-page Acknowledgements spread around three central (‘Works’ theme) linked mechanical cogs, as a recognition all of us likeminded fans collectively working together for the very best end result possible. Each cog is integral to the project, for if any one of them should fail, the entire project fails and grinds to a halt. The machine cannot work unless every tiny part works in unison. That is how I’ve felt from the moment I requested your assistance and the very first fans contributed beloved Queen gems to the project, just to be part of it and just to make it as great as it can be.
Ok, so…. Here’s where we’ve ended up with I WANT IT ALL! Volume 1...
The 464 full colour pages includes eight 4-page fold-out spreads. These spreads open out to be 100 cm wide (a full metre of memorabilia), and 31 cm high, and show for example all the Queen album and single picture discs together for the first time, all the coloured vinyl discs together, all the Japanese LPs and 7”s singles together, as well as a full focus on the wonderful Japanese Music Life magazines and posters, since 1974. One of these 4-pagers shows the handwritten lyrics for every song on a certain Queen album, including its non-album single B-side and even an unreleased song from the original sessions.
To give you an idea of scale; the News Of The World album chapter, and related singles, spans 50 pages on its own, while Jazz covers 40, Opera 28 and Races 38. The Miracle, Magic, Game and Heaven all have 30 pages, while Queen and Queen II span 22 pages each. Innuendo is 28 pages, and Hot Space, 26.
Thank you for your continued patience and support for this project. I hope you’re able to stick with it, with the feeling that generally the best things in life are worth the wait.
…Think of it like Queen’s original studio session outtakes, that you always wanted to hear but never thought you would. For decades, it seemed like they’d never materialize in our lifetimes, but ultimately they did. First came some great stuff on the 2011 Universal bonus CDs, then an entire disc of News Of The World outtakes in 2017, and the same for The Miracle, and another album is in the pipeline too. So… these things DO come and ARE worth the wait… in my humble opinion. But, I say again, genuine apologies for this unavoidable final delay. It’s like the global disclosure of extraterrestrial life abundant in the universe, and even here on Earth: It’s very close now!”

a new evidence of a Queen I box set is in the works. Greg Brooks just made another update of his book of memorabilia. There is a small duplication in the two posts above due to a post merge. Jake12 - your post was moved into this thread as for the most part, it doesn't relate to the catalogue sale.

Another drop in the "Queen I Boxset" bucket for you all. In my Queen playlist on Spotify, the A Night at The Opera track called "Keep Yourself Alive (Long Lost Retake / June 1975 / Remastered 2011)" suddenly became "Keep Yourself Alive - Re-Take" and it now has the Queen I album cover, with the alternate scan mentioned prior in this thread.
Actually playing the track shows the ANATO album cover, yet going to ANATO itself still shows the old name. Perhaps this means that we'll be seeing this version as a bonus on whatever comes from Queen I?

Thanks for your post/info. I have the 2011 Universal reissue of Queen I which doesn't include the LLRT of KYA; that version was included on the ANATO reissue from the same reissue series, due to it having been recorded in 1975, the same year as 'Opera'. The 1991 Hollywood Records reissue of Queen I did include KYA - LLRT and I think it would be great to have it on a QI box set.

It's nice to see a detailed, non-argumentative update from GB. I'm a little surprised that the band need to approve it, as I understood it was set up as a Greg solo project, enabled by access to Brian's archive. Clearly this was incorrect, although it also seems to have come as a surprise to Greg, who has managed to not get anything approved along the way. As for volume 2 (concert memorabilia?) and volume 3 (Queen+ years)...? No chance. More chance of the last Game Of Thrones book getting written by GRRM. Edit..this belongs in the books section, sorry mods ( but if Jake's Greg quote was there too I wouldn't have made the error... )

My guess for the next deluxe album is The Game.
If Greg is accurate that it's an album with only one non album B side, then there are only a handful of candidates. Of those, The Game has some big hits, plenty of live performances, was always thought to have lots of outtake songs.
That said, having gone a little left field with The Miracle, maybe it'll be Hot Space

They’ve said several times how they were some of their most productive album sessions. They went with it because they had comparatively more material to draw from.

From my POV it was an odd choice because the material wasn't that GOOD. (Also, the quantity had already been used up by the three B sides, at least one track appearing on Innuendo, and TMLWKY going on Made In Heaven)

If unreleased studio material / outtakes is the main premise for a box set treatment, The Miracle was by all accounts a natural choice.
But how many albums / eras does that apply? While I love outtakes and unreleased stuff, they need to re-think their approach imo. Blu ray audio with atmos / surround mixes is a no-brainer imo - that's always a big selling point with any other major band who puts out a big box set. 12" mixes? Alternate mixes? Audio commentary from the band, or even better - a documentary with both new and archive footage?
The Greatest Hits packages will live forever, regardless of what format. But we're at a point where the potential market for a big box set is rapidly decreasing. Imo, each era / album deserves the proper deluxe treatment, to further manifest the legacy

It’s like the global disclosure of extraterrestrial life abundant in the universe, and even here on Earth: It’s very close now!” The main thing is that this should not be another collection of which we already have three

hmmm, a typical "Archivist" post. Must be the only archivist in Christendom that doesn't know how many pages his own book has.
Is it 484, 464 or 400-500? C'mon GB.

Greg’s comment responses:
“Thank you Keith. I've been rather nervous about reaction and genuinely appreciate yours. I'm not permitted to say anything about future product. we are working on 2 or 3 things currently and, honestly, they're all greatly excited... and precisely what I signed up for 🙂”
“It's largely my own fault, Toni, because I want to offer EVERYTHING we have, not just some or most of it. But thank you.”
“Martin We I understand some of your frustration, Martin, but we've been working on some truly brilliant and exciting material - as you'll see at some point and realise that a huge amount of care, thought, time, research and energy has gone into it - from a team of very dedicated people. I think the Rainbow Theatre '74, News Of The World and Miracle box sets proves conclusively that the band cares about the hardcore fans; as those products were created specifically for fans, rather than the masses. You have to be fair in what you say. People seem to just EXPECT certain products on certain anniversaries these days.... Works or Queen II boxes just because it's the year 2024. Then Rio or Live Aid just because it's 1985, Magic because it's 1986. But we don't work that way. The band doesn't choose a product with an anniversary as No 1 criteria. That's not the critical detail, surely?!?! We work on each project the best we can, give it our collective ALL, and it comes out whenever it's ready... be it on an anniversary year, or not. I agree with you about The Works T-shirt, by the way!!!!”

Surely, it's because us hardcore fans hate imperfections. Removing the imperfections couldn't possibly have anything to do with appealing to the masses, could it?

He certainly knows how to hype things up, doesn't he? In both NOTW and The Miracle Box sets there was one disc "for fans", assuming that those very fans would already own all of the other 'bonus' material included.
Most other bands issuing box sets of the like, would have included a live concert - something the NOTW box is sorely missing.
