Once it has been released it's no longer just "archive footage" but commercially available. OK, but it still IS "archive footage", irrespective of how many times it's been used before. I understand that you're disappointed, but to be honest, every band with archive footage will be using it as many times as they feel they need to...

See I'd normally agree, but so much of that has already been covered in the original Queen The Greatest. For them to justify a whole new sub-series, they'd probably have to have a little more content than just what was in its predecessor. Obviously it'd be ridiculous to expect them to cover things like AUDs or Soundboards (though I'd love to be proven wrong), but I'm hoping this shows some Hammersmith '79, Tokyo 5/1, Earl's Court, etc. The filmed stuff that they don't often show official clips of. Welp never fucking mind LOL 1-0 to me when these things are announced, you have to take everything QPL say with a sackful of salt. Bottom line: expects tons of everything you've seen before, hope for a few morsels of "unseen" somewhere along the way.

Figured I’d make a thread about this whole thing. Although there probably won’t be all that much to talk about considering QPL’s laziness. Anyway, episode 2 just came out and it was just another opportunity for QPL to talk about how “amazing” Live Aid was for the thousandth time.

I'm not surprised to be honest. And then the short running time of these stupedious videos. One sneeze and it's over.

I watched the second one and it was starting to get interesting when it finished quite quickly. Reminded me of something my ex wife said :-)

Christ, it ain't difficult to see where this goes. Usual suspects: ♦ Live Aid ♦ Knebworth ♦ Rio ♦ Milton Keynes ♦ Montreal ♦ Hammy 75 ♦ Houston 77 ♦ Rainbow 74 ♦ Budapest 86 ♦ Wembley 86 I'm quoting myself here, now. 2 episodes down and I'm 2-for-2. 100%, A+++ - worst part about this? I'd MUCH rather have been wrong.

Ahhh.... maybe instead of reissuing for an nth time Bob Ludwig's remaster they could think of Roger's re-mix who hated the drum sound on that album? One can dream...

TL;DR
This stuff isn't aimed at us. Since the biopic came out they have a whole new generation of fans they're reaching. Some of them know more about Adam Lambert than Freddie Mercury. This stuff will be 99% new to them. And let's also not forget that 5 minute videos are long-form for the TikTok generation.
We get the odd box set like Rainbow, NOTW, and The Miracle. And the new fans get to experience what we already once experienced, just in a slightly different way.
Win/win.

Nice idea, but I doubt much can be done, as you can't change the mic placement after the fact.
Adding compression will make it sound like Live at the Bowl, and that snare sound wasn't exactly pleasant.

The latest episode shows Brian and Roger performing ’39, cutting between rehearsals for a 2012 QAL show in Kiev and the show itself. At one point he seems to sing “write your letters in the sand cannot heal me like your hand”. This might just be an editing error/fudge, but I like to think it’s Bri honouring Freddie’s legacy by forgetting which verse he’s in

I watched all four the other day.
1. 4 episodes of "rehearsals" suggests that this is going to be very drawn out.
2. Other than the first episode with brief bits of new interview, they all follow the same format. Take the footage we have and intercut with the actual concert. It feels like two episodes of that is plenty.
3. They all have 15 seconds of nothing at the end.
4. 20 second unskippable ads for a sub 3 min video is a lot to ask.

4. 20 second unskippable ads for a sub 3 min video is a lot to ask. I despise the ads on YouTube. Even more so, the ones that pop up half way through a video. It's the main reason I don't use it much, and I'm certainly not going to pay to not see something I don't want to see in the first place.

I hope this helps.

Episode 6 is a compliation between Now I'm Here from the Rainbowm 74, and a QAL performance.
That's it, no interview.
And the two perfomances are intercut at random (Rare Live style) despite being performed at very different tempos.
The above it the objective information.
Subjectively, it's just poor. Bad filler.

This week - the first two minutes of the LAW video.
It's comically unimaginative. At least put "taken from Live at Wembley, available on BluRay and Cd, visit Queen online store for more info" at the end - give this nonsense a purpose.

Can't wait for the first Queen 50th anniversary box set so they can add "Liar (US Single Edit)" as one of three new bonus track.
Seriously though, I'm really curious to know if Queen are actually gonna do something this year for that album's anniversary. I know not to get my hopes up because it's QPL, but I keep wondering about it.

I was kind of hoping for last year's tour to be released this year. I can't believe they won't put out the Rhapsody Over London live stream video at some point. Seems an open goal with little further work required.
That said, a QI/QII box set would be more than welcomed.

The last reissue of Queen's debut album (2011 Universal) was in my view the best one yet, with more solid bonus packaging (quality extra photos, etc.) and extra tracks (the De Lane Lea demos + Mad The Swine); I too am not too hopeful for anything (or anything significant) to commemorate the anniversary but it would of course be very nice, particularly if there was anything substantial (i.e. previously unreleased) that they could and would actually be willing to add to it.

...a QI/QII box set would be more than welcomed. Yes, I believe a box set of the 1st 2 albums has previously been discussed in this Forum and/or elsewhere as a plausible idea for a release, and doing so this year could make even more sense, as QII was recorded in 1973 and was originally supposed to be released in Dec. that year.
