I really enjoy the QAL project, I've seen them live and I really would like to see them again. But I didn't think much of this album... It was great that they included Love Kills and I Was Born To Love You, but it misses other songs that worked really well with Adam's voice, as well as non-Adam moments like Roger singing AKOM and/or TATDOOL. I've also found it a little too short - I wish they'd gone with a 2CD format to fit more songs and make it more like an actual 2-hour-long QAL concert. Not trying to revive the Pink Floyd x Queen argument from a month ago, but today Roger Waters' US + THEM live album was also released and I really think it does a better job out of bringing us the full experience of a US + THEM tour than QAL's album does. QAL's sound more like some kind of "teaser" for their tours than an actual attempt at making you relive the concerts. Waters also didn't mind "wasting" 25 minutes of his album with Dogs and Pigs and another 20 on new songs - not to mention playing pretty much all of DSOTM and ignoring some cliches one would expect from any PF-related concert, like Comfortably Numb. I wish QAL would've made the album longer, thrown the old fans another couple of bones (It's Late?) and maybe even added some "new" stuff (Ghost Town?). But that would have meant some additional work and not just shoving out what was already on YouTube. 🙄

@sebastian I’m sure you’re in your glory right now reading the name of the “Composer Lyricist: ....” youtu.be/i17IbFAwYi4To be fair, it's not that big a deal to me: 'Frederick', 'Freddie', 'Fred', 'Freddy', 'Farrokh', I'm fine with any of those. There are people who do throw a tantrum over the use of one or the other but, to paraphrase Frederick, 'it's only a bloody name, people get so excited about these things!'

The more I've listened to it, the more I really do like this live album. I actually found myself moved to tears during Love Of My Life when we hear the crowd roar just as Freddie appears. Also, it's great to have Who Wants To Live Forever on an album with Adam singing, particularly that performance. Brian's right when he says Adam takes the song to new places.
It was also refreshing not to *ahem* have a Brian May solo take up time on the album. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate his traditional solo, but after so many times of hearing him do it, it grows old. The only part of the solo I would have wanted is Last Horizon. Absolutely gorgeous melody and visuals, particularly when he's surrounded by stars and planets. Or even just him in Frank's hand.
I also felt weird at the end of the album when God Save The Queen didn't show up. haha
Some people have noted that the album should have been 2 CDs. While I would have wanted more songs, particularly deeper cuts (It's Late, Spread Your Wings, In The Lap of the Gods...Revisited, etc.), I think there is still something to be said about albums that are not overly long and outstay their welcome. Okay, for us, we want it ALL. But for casual listeners, you want to leave them wanting more...further reason to go out and buy a ticket, I suppose. The album does give listeners a concise summarization of their work so far. And for that, I'm grateful. Perhaps they could have sold deluxe copies with added bonus tracks?

The deluxe version will probably come out next year, so we have to buy it again. 🙄

One thing that doesn't make sense to me is, why would they only make the DVD available through buying a CD+DVD bundle. Why not sell the DVD/Bluray independently? They've done that with all their other releases. It's no surprise that some people would rather buy the DVD *only*.

It makes perfect $en$e (unfortunately). Most fans who want only the DVD will open up their wallet to purchase the bundle, rather than not buying the bundle at all.

Production sounds quite compressed on the CD. Drums sound like they're under a duvet. Typical post 2000 CD sound, unfortunately. Still, some good performances, particularly WWTLF, and the fast bit at the end of STL was a nice surprise. This is probably an album I'll play now and then, but I don't think many tracks will make it to my ever increasing random shuffle playlist. I just hope this isn't the last time we'll hear them play live.

I definitely feel that a ‘collectors edition’ double CD would’ve been warranted...even disregarding Adam’s solo materials and the Zep cover, they’d have had enough for a bonus cd of all the missing, and less frequently played stuff:
Keep Yourself Alive Stone Cold Crazy Play the Game Save Me Dragon Attack Get Down Make Love Spread Your Wings It’s Late I Want It All ‘39 These Are The Days of Our Lives Doing Alright Killer Queen I’m In Love With My Car A Kind of Magic
Have I missed anything?!?

Has anyone noticed autotune on the album? I've only got the idea it might be on Under Pressure, especially Rog's voice at 2:30 for example. It's a 50/50 chance for me, but baring in mind the awful Rainbow autotune disaster I wanted to ask it.

Surely it's a better listening experience to hear the song sung in tune, even if it's been slightly artificial tweaked?

Lord Fickle I mean when it's been done awfully. Like The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke from 1:47 untill 1:52 is really obvious.

Not having a go here, but just to put a different viewpoint - we have a plethora of unofficial recordings in which to hear performances 'warts 'n' all' (although, admittedly, we don't have TFFMS). Personally, I'd rather hear a slightly 'polished' recording, and not have to hear duff notes and other errors. Otherwise, it's like reading a book with spelling mistakes, or watching a movie where the actors forget their lines. I'm happy to see those as out-takes at the end of the movie, but it wouldn't be a product of reasonable quality if they left all the mistakes in, unless that's how the film was intended to be.

Finally got to watch the Blu-ray today. I was pleasantly surprised to see the drum battle and Last Horizon made it to the video. And after my disappointment of not hearing God Save The Queen on the iTunes version, I chuckled when it played during the credits. I feel so much better now. haha
All in all I like this album. Hope I get the chance to see them play again.

Did anyone catch the limited edition CD+cassette bundle autographed by the three on the Queen Online Store? I don't see much value in autographs, but it was only £17! For context, buying the CD and cassette individually would cost a total of £20.99, and that's without the autographs. It had a limited stock of 1000, and was for the UK only. Almost everything is so expensive in that store, so I wonder why they had the low price for this bundle? www.queenonlinestore.com/Queen-Adam-Lambert/Live-Around-The-World/

Also, I don't necessarily care about signatures when they obviously will be rushed through, so there is no real meaning behind them

Then I considered it was only a small price for all of their signatures and the item would probably sell on eBay for a nice little profit in time to come, but they almost immediately sold out. Still, I won't lose sleep over it. 🙄

badboybez, I didn’t say anything near that. Autotune is changing, overdubbing is replacing.

ah - but still Brian is not correct in stating the album is 'live' and nothing was done.

The album is on track to get #1 in the UK but the gap is rapidly closing: If you're in the UK do help out with streams so Queen can keep their #1! Links to stream below: queen.lnk.to/LiveAroundTheWorldSoAnd if you're anywhere else around the world the sales to the official Queen Online store is what counts: www.queenonlinestore.com/The cut-off time for this week's sales is today by midnight BST, which is in less than 12 hours. It could be Queen's first #1 album in 25 years. This is a great time to give Queen all the support they can get. 🙏
