35m16s: any update on the very old concert Brian mentioned last time? Brian: "We're at nowhere with it. I think I got into trouble by talking about it." I want to know who Brian got in trouble with? Who does he answer to? QPL? One of the record companies or their marketing departments for ruining their big surprise campaign for this unreleasable concert? The fans for whetting our appetites for something that will most likely never be released? It’s funny that he “thinks” he got into trouble. Did he get fined? Did he get a slap on the wrist? Or was it a very sternly worded rebuke in an email from his lawyers or his “team”? Or maybe Roger or John (or Mary or Adam) got mad at him? Enquiring minds want to know...

I suspect he got in trouble with himself raising expectations and hopes from the fans tbh. Everyone knows he's a perfectionist who won't release anything that doesn't meet his standard. He's probably been asked a thousand times since he talked about the early concert and when it turned out it's not the kind of quality he'd want for it to be released, he won't do it despite the pressure from fans.

Yeah, we figured they would do nothing with the old gig. Duh.
Still summer for BTTL re-release? I don't think there's so much to do with it unless they started working in January or so,. I'd be surprised if it's actually an upgrade over what we already have rather than a better-sounding (e.g. louder) remaster.

The way I interpret his quote I think it may involve some re-recording too...been ages since I listened to the album, but I wouldn’t be surprised if drum machines / synths etc would be changed on an updated version

I hope they put the Cozy version of DBY on the album, and keep the 'ad' version as an extra track, as the Cozy version would obviously fit the overall sound of the album. But I'm not expecting anything more than a spit and polish, the CD singles B sides, and maybe, just maybe, the Star Fleet tracks.

Hmm on the One Show Brian talks about the 1970 material like it's actual footage. Did I miss this detail?

He did seem to intimate it was video, referring “seen” rather than “heard”.
However he also said Roger had totally vetoed it being put out!!

I look at the superb Beatles anthology combo of CD audio, DVD documentaries, massive book and almost weep when I think of the missed opportunity by QPL to mark 50 years with something similar. The extra tracks on Queen Forever - LMIYHA, TMBMTLTT, etc could have been a good lead EP release to publicize it much the same way as The Beatles created their Free As A Bird/Real Love tracks for their's (poor songs IMO). 😢

Am i the only one who doesn't give a flying fuck about Brian's collab with Kerry? Hear hear! Every time he releases something, it's another sh*te collab with Kerry. (The majority of) Queen fans do not want to hear this, plain and simple. Saying that, does anyone recall Brian's hideous collaboration with Dappy?!

Am i the only one who doesn't give a flying fuck about Brian's collab with Kerry? I actually quite like Kerry as a singer, and whilst I would rather Brian did a new solo album, I think hearing him with her is better than not hearing him at all.

Saying that, does anyone recall Brian's hideous collaboration with Dappy?! I may be controversial here but I actually liked the collab because I liked the song. I was about 10 at the time so I looked for once quite cool to like a trendy song! Although I think I probably would've ignored it if it didn't feature Brian. I had the audio clip of Brian and Dappy in the Radio 1 Live Lounge saved on my MP3 player and I listened to the full 20 minutes feature quite a few times. I'm happy to say it's the only song featuring Dappy I know!

Thought it was pretty shocking, Brian did stoop quite low to collab with him, even though N-Dubz were fairly popular at the time

Brian’s collaboration with Dappy was purely an attempt to get him a number one single to keep the run of number one hits in consecutive decades going....he tried it with Cliff with ‘Move On’ too. He even admitted it as much on his social channels at the time with some quite undignified begging for fans to buy it too.
Roger has the last laugh though without really even trying, and is the only artist to feature on a number one UK single in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s!

Can someone please change the topic name in "Brian talks about NOT releasing old concert recordings and many other goodies they proudly have but are destined to further collect dust in some archive" no we won't edit the title. your sarcasm aside, you cannot know for certain that they are proud of their archive recordings. they could just as equally be completely ashamed of them and - for this reason - refuse to let them be heard.

Over all the complaints here we should not forget that they HAVE released quite a lot live stuff, given the fact that they performed live for "only" 15 years.
And I think that the general interest (=sales) in a 70s show without all the greatest hits stuff is quite limited compared to all the work and time they would have to invest.
From THEIR point of view I can understand that for now they do nothing with the old stuff.

The thing is, recent archive releases have been lavish and expensive box sets, that a) not everyone can afford, and b) not everyone wants.
With the NOTW box set, I had to buy a box of reproduced tat, and a vinyl LP I can't play, to get the one CD I wanted, at a cost of around £100.
The other live box sets were lovely, but I'm pretty sure most fans who want the archive live material, would be quite happy with nicely mixed and mastered bog-standard CDs, without all the superfluous bits and pieces to bump the price up.
Surely, those would also be cheaper to produce, and would sell more? You are more likely to get a newer fan who may be curious about the older live stuff to buy a regular CD, than to invest in an elaborate and costly box set.
