In terms of a potential video, Earl's Court is surely the next best option...?

In terms of a potential video, Earl's Court is surely the next best option...? I wholeheartedly agree, but Lord Fickle was talking about the News of The World tour specifically. Queen Productions were planning to release Earl's Court in the '90s but cancelled it due to issues with "Freddie's piano vocal mic." That could very well have been a lie though, since it's used in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.

Innuendo. Did anyone go to the session at Metropolis a few years back? You’d think with all that material it would make an excellent box set (like The Miracle). Add in the videos (newly scanned and restored of course) and with new surround mixes. Lovely.

Tin hat on now...Why cannot they release any show that was recorded with sound and/or video decently as is? No work done to it just the raw show. After all, it was what we the audience heard/saw it on the night! Just my thoughts.

That was slightly different. That was taking existing bootlegs and putting them out as their own, with no attempt to use any sources they may have had to either a) improve sound quality or b) fill in song gaps. Hence Montreal and Hammersmith (twice, IIRC) being included in that series. I think Mr Killer means taking material OUT of the archive and releasing it AS IS. Which, in my view, would only require a tin hat if he was in throwing range of either Mr Taylor or Mr May - anyone else on the planet would be either supportive or indifferent.

There's a difference between separating a piano from a voice and separating 6 different mono cymbals together. How would one untangle Brian's delayed guitar solo and make it stereo like it used to be? How would you untangle Get Down, Make Love's psychadelic section? Freddie's Prophet's Song vocal effects break? I truly doubt that any possible AI model exists for something like that. My bad. I didn't think about making such a thorough separation, but rather just voice, piano, guitar, bass, drums... Obviously they do need more than that, as you pointed out, for even a full stereo mix. Too bad.

I would like a boxset of live recordings. However I prefer releases like the Miracle, there was a rumour about Queen I & II boxset in 2024. If the works comes too , it will be welcome, from what has been leaked 1982-1984 Queen were prolific in studio, their decisions is another story...

I'm honestly just surprised that Queen has never done anything with A Night At The Opera outside of that 5.1 mix. That's like their album with the most "legacy" and respect from pretty much everybody, and a boxset would SURELY sell incredibly well. It's also a good common ground between hardcore fans and casuals.
Bohemian Rhapsody's leaked multitrack shows a lot of alternate vocal takes and unused harmonies in the Opera section, an "alternate version" of Bohemian Rhapsody would be so easy to market. Surely the rest of the album has similar content.
Plus, Brian's God Save The Queen piano demo would be nice to have.

You are correct Mr PG, just the Queen concerts that are in the archives.

If they do revisit the first album, perhaps with current AI technology, Brian (or the crew) has been able to convince Roger to consider releasing Imperial College?

As much as I would like that to happen, I wouldn't even put my hopes on it. That kind of stuff will only see the light of day long after Brian and Rog have left this earth.

one thing is certain; the massive upgrades of old concerts that continue to pop on youtube (and yes, I'm aware of bit rate etc and that a small computer screen can make footage look better than it really is) has reached a new level. These are things done by fans, with what I gather is limited resources, and still the upgrades are often remarkable. if the official team went in, with the same care, and a proper budget, I'm sure they could make lots of old footage / audio very worthy of release. I'll get flamed for saying this; but I'll gladly buy Wembley and Milton Keynes yet another time, if they apply modern tools to enhance the footage. (the audio could use a brush up, too ) also - how cool would it be if later this year there is a Works box set with Tokyo 85 remastered and enhanced to perfection? (as perfect as the source material allows)

If they’re gonna do a Works set I’d rather they threw in the full Rock in Rio.

In a perfect world. In March/April a Works box set including a live album and DVD.
Then in November/October a Queen I @ II and Sheer Heart Attack box set including a previously unreleased live album of some kind and possible DVD (not Rainbow)
Will it happen? 🤣🤣

But it would still be really nice to have an official audio of Budokan and DVD release. In some ways Imperial College would be even better. Brian at one point seemed really keen on releasing it. The lack of a release has been blamed on both him and Roger. But maybe possibly the reason for holding onto it is that it would fit a retro box set better?

If they’re gonna do a Works set I’d rather they threw in the full Rock in Rio. Even better! The opening Brussels night with what available footage from that night they have (as confirmed by Rhys Thomas) synced with audio and full CD release of that gig. That would be a real killer. Freddie was in amazing shape that night. Wasn't it speculated (firstly confirmed but later denied) that all the UK shows from The Works tour had been recorded ?

IMHO the European leg of The Works tour in 1984 was so much better than the 1985 part. I'd certainly prefer one of those shows to be released, but all of us here know better than to have high hopes.

"Can we say that a QI/QII boxset seems to be in the works?"
Based on what exactly?

"Can we say that a QI/QII boxset seems to be in the works?" Based on what exactly? Blind Optimism, and a severe detachment from reality?

First post on official accounts of the band regarding the first album...even during its 50th anniversary in July 2023 they didn't mention it. Call me crazy, bit I'm really optimistic about a box set of the first two LPs.

You could just as much claim that a Works box set was in the Queen... I'm not sure I want to hear The Works II... The first one, to be honest the Miracle box set started from a random IG post, or maybe we will get another useless reissue or nothing at all.

I don't know... When i saw this post it reminded me the post of the 22nd May 2022 with the handwritten first version of the miracle tracklist (with TMLWKY). There were some rumours about the Miracle boxset then and so that post "confirmed" such theories. From that 22 May to september (i think) there were no other signs about the miracle boxset but in november we all did know... I think that we are a bit imaginative sometimes, even too much for me, but look what happened with miracle. It happened! So let's hope for the Queen I/II reissues. What we have? We have the rumour that Brian and Roger are re-mixing the first album (we don't know any other activity before the Japan concerts with AL), We have the fact that Queen didn't celebrate the 50th release of the first album (and so we could imagine a single release with I & II together, even if it hasn't sense). We also have this photo, the first post about that period (also the posts with the diary pages and the photos of very young Roger and Freddie posted in 2021). We have the famous "Taped concert at the Imperial college from 1970 that brian found at his home" The reason to make a single release for both Queen I and Queen II could be that at the time the money (and the possibilities) were so few to keep enough material for a future single box for each album. In 1973 they were an emerging band and probably no one could care about the outtakes of the first album of that band so they maybe re-recorded the new takes on the same tape to save money... That said, I could imagine a sort of boxset called "The first years" with all of this stuff. Remastered albums, live recordings, outtakes, bbc sessions and a book with the roger diary pages or the photos from the Queen I sessions at the freddie's flat. All this is my pure imagination, but why not? No one predicted the Miracle box (that came out for the 33rd anniversary) so i think that QPL don't care anymore about dates, they stopped in 2017 with NOTW. The Movie changed everything, every plan. The only anniversaries they respected were those of the picture discs (Game, Gordon) or Greatest Hits...
