I'm trying to avoid making a criticism, because I kinda knew what to expect with the 1st episode, but god what did they do to the live clips? Hammersmith, Rainbow and even Montreal looked somehow off.

Oh man, I thought they were going to do actual performances instead of some amateur voice-over and My First Video editing. That intro with all the bandnames from the albums after each other... The trailer looked pretty good, but this kind of stuff...

‘episode’... 3 and a half minute edit of micro snippets and zooming into pictures. I guess you could call 10 of these an episode. Even if they include something new/rare it will be 2 seconds of something or one previously unseen picture. As expected, this is a youtube upload for the short attentioned younger audience. The quality level is below the Queen standard. So now we know what to expect from the following 49 episodes, let’s enjoy the bumpy ride.

Queen have just tweeted that this week, the first video will highlight concerts, soundchecks and rare after-show access After seeing the 1st ‘episode’ I must admit I enjoyed the soundchecks and after-show highlights. |

For wide public is very good, it is better than I expected some rare photos. I am not expecting something special for the die hard fans. But it is good for its aiming to bring new audience.

Surely they have a higher quality version somewhere in the archives? Must have been too much work to dig it out. And of course all the youtube comments are just eating it up.

I may just sound like an elitist fart, but it's the movie's problem. Brought a lot of new fans (including me, I'm part of it!) and they just lap anything up with the Queen name on it, and don't really dig deeper to find people like Ryan Newton, Chinwonder2, or Gregsynthbootlegs who document the rare (and sometimes exceptionally good) performances of the band that aren't The Rainbow, Hammersmith, Montreal, and Wembley '86. They just take things at face value. Only the officially released stuff though, because these fans have probably never listened to a bootleg before. Nothing bad on them, they just need to widen their palette a bit more. |

Apparently the 2-disc editions have been out of print and hard to get. Each album will also come with a random trading card, with 50 trading cards in all to collect. They had cards when they were originally released in 2011, and they looked like this (back and front):   Not too exciting, but good news for people in Japan who missed out on the bonus discs. It's a bit surprising that these are being released on May 19th, and not April 17th, which is the anniversary of Queen's arrival in Japan and celebrated as "Queen Day" every year. |

My kids will watch it and probably enjoy it, but I have a feeling they already know this stuff. (Even if they’ve only paid attention to a quarter of the stuff I rant and rave about.)

I've loved Queen virtually all of my life, that is, the music and the band members, but this corporate 'machine', the constant recycling just to sell the same bloody thing one more time, the tat being offered, like toys and fecking jigsaws, really pisses me off more than any other band or artist. Are they not ashamed at some of the crap they're passing off as 'band merchandise'? It really makes me sad.

Isn't it Lupton doing the voiceover? If so, contrast the quality of this official output with that of the independent podcast, and judge the degree to which he's being hamstrung by the qpl machine.

I wrote on one of Greg's FB posts to express my disappointment. This has been such a crap year for a band that should be celebrating with their fans. They need to stop giving us crumbs we've already eaten. It's really gotten on my nerves.
