They could've just uploaded the Days Of Our Lives documentary, but decided to go episodic. Dunno what that means when it comes to monetizing. Do they get more with these episodes or would they have gotten more from uploading the whole thing? That's an interesting point. How does this increase income? It's not selling th band to the man in the street (film and advert licensing does that), and it's too shit for the hardcore. What is the purpose of this exercise?

EP1 has over 300k views - are they making any real money through YT ads?

What is the purpose of this exercise? I think you get income via YT for every "view" a video gets (due to the advertising). So, in theory if they uploaded a single documentary, you'd have the average Queen fan view it once. Break that same thing up into 50 episodes, then that same viewer (most likely) will visit their YT page 50 times.

Break that same thing up into 50 episodes, then that same viewer (most likely) will visit their YT page 50 times. It completely depends on the amount of ads shown, for example a short video can have 1 (or a few more I don't know specifics) ad, but a longer video can have more. So it does depend on the view count, but not entirely if the audience for example has an ad blocker. Breaking it up into 50 episodes does mean more ads in total, but not 50x as much, I'd guess 'only' about 5-10x as many ads shown.

Really like the godly fucked audio! I wasn’t sure if it was just me, but now I know it was there! It sounded very tinny as if they double tracked the whole thing or something like that...

How 'bout those pixelated bitmap logos? Or this glorious cut-job from the last episode? Photoshop skills of those editors must be as plentiful as their fancy calibrated monitors.

Er, I've watched two episodes and haven't seen an ad yet. If ad revenue is the rationale, it's really bad execution.... (fill in your own punchline)

Jeez, this logo showed up for a quarter of a second at most. A lot of logos show up in both episodes, some for just a few frames, but the image quality is unacceptable even for early 2000s standards. I added the pic just to show how sloppy it was cut out (note the difference in the gray and black background) I know it’s petty of me to do that, but it goes to show that amateurs are working on this project, which is turning out to be way below Queen standards.

It is very very interesting how will they handle the differences to the band history made in the movie. Works Tour erased ? Band break-up aka Paul Prenter Yokoonoing Queen like Beatles ?

It is very very interesting how will they handle the differences to the band history made in the movie. Works Tour erased ? Band break-up aka Paul Prenter Yokoonoing Queen like Beatles ? they won't go into any areas of conflict/controversy/contradiction/contention. the whole thing will be incredibly sterile and the stuff of Romance Novels - with anything remotely interesting either airbrushed out or ignored completely. why are we bothering to discuss this in terms of "ifs" "buts" and "maybes" - there are none. QPL have "Royally Shafted" the fans, in much the same way they've historically done so - it 'twas ever thus and evermore will it continue. no money in releasing unheard/unseen stuff that only the hardcore will be interested in is there - not when advertising cash can be rinsed out of YT et al from recycling the same old poor-quality tat. we can't blame them - filthy lucre dictates the agenda - and filthy lucre is in the mainstream and the casual listener, and not us. sad, but true. perhaps we should ignore them, like they've ignored us? these are just the ramblings of a fan of 47 years - who for the last 23 (or so) has been subjected to streams of disappointment heaped upon disappointment until the pile is so big, i struggle to remember why Queen were (once) far and away my favourite band. these days, i choose to remember only upto 1978 and 89-95. fuck the rest of this money-grubbing omniconfest. fuck it all to fuckdom.

After the Miracle box set was quietly canceled I pretty much gave up on Queen. I have my memories and the music, but as a brand they can't – or won't – deliver what longtime fans have wanted or asked for, instead doing the barest minimum for their 50th anniversary and throwing away the more interesting projects, so I choose to walk away and give my money to artists who deserve it.
I agree with Brenski: "fuck it all to fuckdom".

list of artists whose archival boxsets/deluxe edition releases that better that of Queen: Elton John ♦ Led Zeppelin ♦ Pink Floyd ♦ Deep Purple ♦ David Bowie ♦ UFO ♦ Springsteen ♦ AC/DC ♦ Rainbow ♦ Lizzy ...and i'm barely surface-scraping here.

Elton has been on a roll. It helps too that he doesn’t think about the past all that much and doesn’t hoard any of the material

I know Dr May appreciates the environment, but why recycle all the Queen material so many times? That's why I also gave up Queen and rather spend my money on Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Rainbow.

I agree about DP. I don't have any box sets/DEs of any of the others above except PF: Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980–81 (which I believe is superior to Queen's archival output); I would add Black Sabbath's DEs which have bonus tracks, Alice Cooper's Old School box set and maybe their/his 'The Life & Crimes of Alice Cooper' box set too.

Another abomination of an episode. One thing QPL is good at is making me laugh. The font at 0:45 killed me that episode was awful, it looks so unprofessional! looks like a elementary schooler did it for a class assignment! also, the audio is crap xD

In addition to the four Springsteen box sets (three of which have been excellent), Bruce Inc have opened their live recording archives. Nearly 60 shows, virtually all of them from multitracks, have been released since 2014.

Best re-issues programmes: King Crimson + Jethro Tull + XTC. Not too far from that neighbourhood has been Yes. The remixes by Steven Wilson are incredible, as are the bonus tracks. Plenty of the bonus tracks on the previous round of remasters up to Drama were great as well.
Lots of box sets too. "Progeny" had seven uncut shows from the Close To The Edge tour, and they even put Chris Squire's bass track through his rig to make it sound as authentic as possible. Serious props for attention to detail.
