I'd settle for a nice fan release of something.

2011 was the year I got really really into Queen. Prior to the 40th anniversary I had A Night At The Opera on CD and was using YouTube to watch several videos but that was the year where I got several Queen albums due to them being remastered. And I watched the Days Of Our Lives documentary and that taught me several new non-single songs but also a history of a group. So I learnt a lot that year so to me that was the most exciting Queen year in the last ten years in my opinion. But I suppose it's more personal than general. This is such a perfect timing, imagine just getting in and getting all the good stuff at once! 😁

interesting that there *something* every year for a while, and then it all stopped.

And what annoys me the most is the ‘1971-2021’ banner, Queen stopped recording after 1991, and put out rarities after that which I don’t think counts as recording. Queen was 1971-1991, so 50 years ago Queen formed, but they aren’t active because the half left after 1991, or at least John wanted to leave after that but left after 1997.

I think that claims of "50th anniversary, 1971-1991" might have run into rather more complaints, because...maths. The only comment on a cardboard HGV is that if that's representative of the design language for the anniversary, it's not very inspiring- crest and font per the 1991 GH2 release (the crest was gold then too), and the cover of Live at the Bowl. I'm no graphic designer, but there's nothing new (and I accept that's a challenge for a legacy band) that makes me wonder what other interesting merch may be forthcoming.

Actually, why not go all out and call it the Queen Jubilee?
You get an automatic title for the inevitable tie in compilation album, have a street party (on a Queen Street somewhere) as a pr stunt, sell official bunting , have the royal mint make some special coins (d'oh!), get Jeanette Charles out of retirement to sit in the Royal Box at the Palladium for a one off gig with fan-voted setlist (aka the Royal Command Performance).

Nope. Biblical reference, coopted by George III.

For the 50th anniversary I assume something like The Platinum Collection on vinyl (and a re-release on cd) and maybe a boxset with 'all' video clips on dvd/blu-ray.

I know this is just one part of hopefully a series of stuff they'll put out but couldn't they start off with something a little more substantial... 🤦♀️

I personally believe Queen need a new compilation album that contains ALL the hits because I don't think there is one that is definitive. You could have a really nice collection which contains songs from every album on a four disc which would be a nice introduction to new fans.

Ooh, you could call it "Deep cuts" and issue it as 4 separate volumes. Interesting idea

50/30 The Show Goes On This is my dream title for the 50th anniversary. 50 years of Queen/ 30 years without Freddie, but the show goes on. Why does the show go on? Hopefully, they will get into the Queen vaults and release music we haven't heard. Just a dream

You could have a really nice collection which contains songs from every album on a four disc which would be a nice introduction to new fans. Ooh, you could call it "Deep cuts" and issue it as 4 separate volumes. Interesting idea I'm guessing you're taking my comment sarcastically but when I first started listening to Queen I didn't know many of their songs other than their biggest stuff. The thing I did was have a poster of Queen's single covers so that helped me learn a few of their B-Sides (e.g. lesser known stuff) but not only that it got me to understand the chronological order of their singles which is hard to gather from existing compilation albums so having an album like what I've done below in my opinion is the perfect vehicle for new fans. Disc 1 (1973-1975): 01. Keep Yourself Alive 02. Liar 03. Doing All Right 04. My Fairy King 05. Ogre Battle 06. Seven Seas Of Rhye 07. White Queen (As It Began) 08. The March Of The Black Queen 09. Now I'm Here 10. Stone Cold Crazy 11. Flick Of The Wrist 12. Killer Queen 13. Brighton Rock 14. In The Lap Of The Gods… Revisited 15. Bohemian Rhapsody 16. I’m In Love With My Car 17. Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To…) 18. You're My Best Friend 19. ‘39 20. Love Of My Life Disc 2 (1976-1980): 01. Tie Your Mother Down [Single] 02. Somebody To Love 03. Long Away 04. Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy 05. Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together) [Single] 06. We Will Rock You 07. We Are The Champions 08. Sheer Heart Attack 09. Spread Your Wings 10. It’s Late 11. Fat Bottomed Girls [Single] 12. Bicycle Race 13. Jealousy 14. Don't Stop Me Now 15. Let Me Entertain You [Live Killers] 16. Another One Bites The Dust 17. Dragon Attack 18. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 19. Need Your Loving Tonight 20. Play The Game 21. Save Me Disc 3 (1980-1986): 01. Flash [Single] 02. Football Fight 03. The Kiss (Aura Resurrects Flash) 04. The Hero 05. Under Pressure 06. Back Chat [Single] 07. Body Language 08. Calling All Girls 09. Las Palabras De Amor (The Words Of Love) 10. I Want To Break Free [Single] 11. Hammer To Fall [Single] 12. Radio Ga Ga 13. It’s A Hard Life 14. Is This The World We Created…? 15. Princes Of The Universe 16. One Vision [Single] 17. A Kind Of Magic 18. One Year Of Love 19. Friends Will Be Friends 20. Who Wants To Live Forever 21. Thank God It’s Christmas Disc 4 (1989-1998): 01. I Want It All [Single] 02. Breakthru 03. The Invisible Man 04. Scandal 05. The Miracle 06. Innuendo 07. Headlong 08. I’m Going Slightly Mad 09. These Are The Days Of Our Lives 10. The Show Must Go On 11. I Was Born To Love You 12. Heaven For Everyone [Single] 13. You Don’t Fool Me 14. Too Much Love Will Kill You 15. Let Me Live 16. A Winter’s Tale 17. No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) 18. Let Me In Your Heart Again

Kinda wish they'd do an Anthology series like the Beatles - I love the list provided above but also include some outtakes/studio takes here and there that haven't been released yet. I'd still love another live album, either Boston 76 or Houston 77 but ideally something from the super early days if that even exists. I know they're kinda perfectionists with not releasing stuff that isn't 100% perfect but I'd be happier listening to something real and maybe a little less polished than not having it at all..

Kinda wish they'd do an Anthology series like the Beatles - it's unlikely any anthology will be heard while Brian draws breath. the Beatles (by 1995) were 25 years on from their split, by that time - the three survivors (and Yoko) were happy for fans to hear their WIPs. Queen - are still a living entity, and Brian's too much of a perfectionist - therefore, it's unlikely this stuff is released any time soon.

Sort of on the right tracks, it misses a few songs that I think need to be on there but more importantly it's not in chronological order. Look at my tracklisting on the previous page, that's the sort of thing I mean.
