I think the anthology is the final piece in the Queen jigsaw, because once that is released, there wont be any other releases and thats the supply of new earnings gone, hence the constant lambert stuff. It's not like the guys need anymore money, the film made another ton, and they didnt even cash in on that with an anthology release, that would have been perfect. At this point, I think an anthology will only happen when both Brian and Roger are gone, or maaaybe when they become too old to tour but still have a sliver of health and will to make them happen.

Come on guys, I think that deep inside we're all so much excited for more tracks to be effortlessly re-released for the 5th time instead of releasing unseen footage (that they clearly have)!

How do you imagine these anthologies of Queen rarities? Freddie had 2 solo albums and 7 music videos. They released all the demos and rarities on Solo Box and re-assembled the video clips in 4k for Never Boring. I can't imagine how long it takes them to rebuild 50 video clips in 4K and add demos to all 15 albums. I personally have not seen this on sale even from other famous bands, but in any case it will turn out to be a very huge and expensive Box

Not every video can be rebuild as some were not filmed on film.
I wonder if these videos were shot on film or not:
- Breakthru - Scandal - Innuendo - A Kind Of Magic - It's A Hard Life - Spread Your Wings / We Will Rock You - Play The Game

50th anniversary? I think they'll release...
Promo videos on Blu-Ray!... the same SD cropped versions from GVH slapped on an SD-BR Queen Live Rarities CD!... 3 tracks each from Rock Montreal, On Fire, Wembley etc. Queen Anthology CD!... the few new studio tracks from the 2011 EPs collected along with two tracks from the NOTW Raw Sessions and finally.......... A brand-new CD single, featuring the long-lost studio recording of HANGMAN...... reimagined as a duet with Adam Lambert (limited to 100 copies)
And we'll buy it all so we can come on here and complain about it!!!!! Fun!!!!!

From 'Queenzone' 16 Oct 2013:
Rhys Thomas, the Director of the two new documentaries stated on queens website awhile back about the Bluray package which would include the missing videos from Innuendo and more archival footage of behind the scenes filming....release date unknown....There was a Q and A done awhile back....someone asked.................. "I imagine a lot of queen fans ask this, but will there ever be a Greatest Video Hits 3? There were rumours abound a long while back but nothing seems to have come of it"...............he said........"Maybe but there are only a few videos left, the Innuendo ones and Made In Heaven. I would like to do a Blu Ray of ALL Queen videos with unseen rushes. One day. I'd also like to make a video for Made In Heaven..However, all video rushes with the exception of Scandal, Headlong, The Miracle, Hard Life, body Language and Breakthu exits in HD so will be fun to do something with those".......

I think if these Rushes are preserved, they can improve the quality of many video clips. For example, the collection of the 70s could be released on SD blu-ray and look no worse than Rainbow '74. From what we've already seen in documentaries we can deduce which videos will appear 'fresh':
01. Keep Yourself Alive (From Rags to Rhapsody) 02. Liar (From Rags to Rhapsody) 03. Bohemian Rhapsody (?) 04. You're My Best My Best Friend (?) 05. Somebody To Love (Days Of Our Lives) 06. Tie Your Mother Down (?) 07. We Are The Champions (Killer Queen) 08. Spread Your Wings (Days Of Our Lives) 10. We Will Rock You (The American Dream) 11. Bicycle Race (Days Of Our Lives) 12. Fat Bottomed Girls (As has been stated before they didn't have any rushes) 13. Don't Stop Me Now (?) 14. Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Days Of Our Lives) 15. Save Me (Magic Years) 16. Play The Game (Forever in Nederland) 17. Another One Bites The Dust (?) 18. Flash (?)

They should think big, why not release complete studio tapes via a central digital archive of their own. I'd subscribe to a Queen archive and pay a monthly fee to listen to random talk between band mates before and after takes etc. A physical release is an olf-fashioned idea. Instead of the box-sets, a proper digital archive with acccess to stuff fans are intereste in (demos/outtakes, videos) would be the way to go. So yes, a Queen streaming service would be nice.

there's too much of a problem with the Anthology as a concept. As things stand/have stood - since first proper discussions during late 90s - it's becoming harder to think what would be in/out of such a package. i'll try an explain:
♦ goes without saying that not everything can be included - it's just impractical. ♦ so, every individual's idea of what would be in such a package, is different. ♦ what happens if what "you" want isn;t included? "cries" of disappointment, "QPL typical ripoff" etc etc ♦ then, even if they did a "Beatles" and some it it included say "three takes of STL" - people would be disappointed that one of those takes was at the expense of a track they wanted included ♦ so, QPL reduce the thing to one song=one take...then we complain it's "not the take we wanted to hear" ♦ almost everything that will be released (note i said "will be" and not "could be") - will have been heard before - and sometimes in better quality ♦ when the Beatles and other bands like AC/DC (Bonfire) etc released these kind of packages actually made money from sales...nobody is buying music these days to any volume that makes a profit for bands.
i could go on (i won't bore you) but there's no way that even half of the fans will be happy with whatever does get released

I'd really love to have 'special editions' of ADATR and maybe QII, as they've never had any special treatment, but we've had countless releases of ANATO. A 5.1 mix of ADATR would be awesome.

When you read that Brian interview it's clear to better not expect anything for their 50th anniversary.

I agree with both. I think that's why I'm looking forward to a prospective Miracle set just because it's a relatively obscure album and we know there's lots of potential material. Even a treatment like the NOTW set would be ok. Remaster - demos - b-sides etc. I always thought we kind of got an anthology in the guise of the 2011 bonus EPs, plus the BBC material and even the Hollywood remixes (!!!) etc so anything beyond that is a plus for me. A straight reissue of those bonus tracks ' Past Masters' style plus the single edits and b-sides that were missed would fill a hole but I know we'd feel shortchanged having already bought them. Then I look at the current Bowie boxsets like Conversation Piece which focus on an 'era' rather than an album and I think a similar Queen approach would be welcomed. The debut plus the demos, alternate early version of the album with Mad The Swine and original KYA, Smile material and early bbc sessions and any live stuff / videos for example. A simple task in theory

Possibly a blu-ray of all the improved hi-def single videos and TV performances with surround sound, ala the Freddie Never Boring release. This would be something QPL would do.
Personally I would like downloads of all the multitracks from all the albums. This would be fun for some fans to mix/play around with them.
They would also reveal the true brilliance of their musicianship and inventiveness to new and old fans alike, particularly with parts buried in the final mixes.
Probably wouldn't be commercial enough for QPL though.

As long as Brian, Roger, Jim Beach, and their descendants walk god's green earth I don't think we'll ever get something like that.
