I did think that it probably wouldn’t have gone ahead this year due to Brian’s Health. He has had a rough time of it. I am due to see them at the O2, where are you seeing them ? I think they will reschedule for 2022 like Elton has. Yeah, the O2. Trouble is, when you get to their kinds of age, you do have to think about scheduling things too far in advance. I hope to goodness nothing happens to them any time soon, but Brian's had a scare, and it does show that you can't predict the future. Their age does cross my mind. Let’s hope all is ok for them

Not really for the 50th.. although they could do it next year if they would want to but, I was hoping to get a single release of ‘White Christmas’ with ‘Thank God It’s Christmas’ as a b-side.

Hello guys, First of all; happy new year! (Back to what I wanted to say) I think it will be nice if we make a thread for (speculations about;)) anniversary releases, e.g. 50 years of the completion of the band, 30 years of Innuendo, 40 years Greatest Hits, 35 years of AKOM(not probable), 45 years of ADATR.

Qpl doesn't really have much history of anniversary releases...GH1 and 2 were tagged as such, but other than that I think it's just NOTW in 2017.

The 2011 remasters with extra tracks were their 40th anniversary releases, weren't they?
I guess we're due for re-releases...

It would have to be a very special release, such as a massive box set, with more bonus material than previously released stuff, for me to buy all the original albums again. But that would probably require a small mortgage to pay for it, so let's forget remastering the old stuff again, especially as there are fans that can do a better job themselves, and concentrate on a Live Through The Years box set (with complete shows), or an 'Unreleased Anthology'. I've been supporting this band for 50 years. It's payback time. 🙂

this is the last major opportunity to release really interesting material (e.g. Let Me Live with Rod, Play The Game with Gibb and other unreleased songs or demos from the Freddie era) for longtime fans (now in their 50s or 60s) can buy (wishing us a long life, of course). also because the young people who “adore” Adam are there today but tomorrow ... only at concerts, because I don't think they will ever publish studio material with him (I hope). If they think about money they have to bet on who can buy and who has followed Queen since ancient times. Same goes for Freddie's seventy-fifth birthday and the thirtieth anniversary of his passing.

the only thing that surprises me about threads like this - and all of those of similar ilk, that have preceded it (on Queen forums) down the decades, is that Queen Fans really are a triumph of abjectly blind optimism over reality.

What would be really great is if QPL brought out yet another shit compilation, and it didn't sell one single copy. But again, the reality is, Queen fans will buy it, and that is one of the reasons we don't get anything more interesting.

How many people bought the overpriced 5 disk News box set when it only had one disk of new music?
QPL will continue to string along and gouge its old fans because too many stepfords buy the recycled crap.

Based on my experience with other artists from a generation or so earlier, there will be plenty of releases with new material...once the actual artists are dead and there's no money to be made from touring and the likes. And, obviously, with no input from the artists themselves. It's a shame that Queen seems to be headed in that same direction, unlike artists who do seem to want to take their legacy in their own hands and work on releasing these kinds of things themselves.

It's a shame that Queen seems to be headed in that same direction, unlike artists who do seem to want to take their legacy in their own hands and work on releasing these kinds of things themselves. Yes, it only makes sense. If Brian and Roger didn't have any control over their works, which they do, we would have seen many more releases already. I can only hope this year sees at least one mindblowing product because of the anniversary alone, but it sucks that B&R seem to care so little and seemingly want to forever keep old stuff under wraps so that they perpetuate the hits with no thought on everything else they've done together. This will largely not change until they're gone or at least unable to keep playing live. Don't get me wrong, I want them to remain alive and well, I just don't agree with their decisions and that frustrates us all to no end. I am preaching to the choir, but they could also focus on archival releases as well as on their live shows and whatnot. Putting out boxsets cannot possibly tarnish their legacy or touring plans at this point, most of the public who would attend their gigs wouldn't care about demos or old concerts anyway, not to the point of declining to go. In 2020 they had a golden opportunity to give us at least one archival release and they wasted it. For 2021, I can only hope they intend to put out the already finished TM boxset, that 1970 gig AND/OR whatever else they can delight us with. It would be insane if they didn't. On a related thought, I wonder what the plans are for a Jimi Hendrix 50th (death) anniversary product. They've exhausted the archives! Understandably so, as per ThomasQuinn's points. The last few studio releases were mostly remixed outtakes of what was out there already. I'm not sure if the "Black Gold" album is myth or real, but not many lost tapes are bound to be unearthed anymore. I guess they could still have some good live recordings they can scrape off the barrel.

We got the New Year production with Yoshiki and Sarah Brightman....
Seriously there seem to be no plans for any release. Wasted opportunity if you ask me.
It's next year already! Prove us wrong Queen! Please!

Keep in mind the re-masters/re-issues were mainly because Queen were switching label. It just so happened to perfectly coincide with their self-imposed 40th anniversary.

But I do think it should still be included since QPL is pretty anal when it comes to releasing more than one or two products a year

Rudi Dolezal has announced that he has a Queen/Freddie documentary film coming in autumn 2021, and there is also an official Queen product coming 2021 too which he has been involved in (probably The Miracle box set?)

That dude has been pumping out soo much hype this past year! At first I was a big fan and believed everything he was saying.. until his pretend phone calls he would make to Phoebe and his “pre orders” for a book that isn’t even close to being done. And then a fake $1000 giveaway that never happened. This dude is full of it

Pretty confident Rudi has nothing to do with the Miracle Box Set . I also wouldn’t take much notice of what he says . I preordered his book way back and he still hasn’t finished the content as he keeps showcasing people’s artwork saying it’s going into the book . When you ask him when the book is out he gives the excuse it’s delayed because it’s coming out in 11 different languages and Covid . He also directs people to the website which has no update at all . The golden friendship certificates haven’t materialized . TBH Covid should be given him plenty of time to crack on and get it out . He is just to disorganized. I have lost all respect for him .
