So, about half of the concert is over. The opening was a surprise. The rest so far sounds very similar to last year in Europe. Bug I have to say that Brian sounds good today on Love of my Life. And Adam’s new costum are quite stunning, as far as I‘ve seen on Twitter. But what happened to his motor bike?

QAL Baltimore #1 (04 Oct) Setlist: 1. Radio Ga Ga (first half) / Machines (bridge by Adam) 2. Hammer to Fall 3. Stone Cold Crazy 4. Another One Bites the Dust 5. I'm In Love with My Car 6. Bicycle Race 7. Fat Bottomed Girls 8. I Want It All 9. A Kind of Magic 10. Killer Queen 11. Don't Stop Me Now 12. Somebody to Love 13. Love of My Life 14. '39 15. Drum Solo (Let There Be Drums) (NEW) 16. Under Pressure 17. Tie Your Mother Down (with a punk-style first half) 18. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 19. I Want to Break Free 20. Who Wants to Live Forever (+ audio intro You Take My Breath Away) 21. Guitar Solo (incl. Dvorak's New World Symphony No. 9) 22. Is This The World We Created? (NEW) 23. The Show Must Go On 24. Bohemian Rhapsody 25. We Will Rock You 26. Machines (a bit) / Radio Ga Ga (solo and second half) 27. We Are the Champions UPDATE: the official paper - apparently they were supposed to do Save Me after the guitar solo. Maybe the next shows? (pic by Ali K)
They really sandwiched an entire show between a halved frankenstein of Machines and Radio Ga Ga lol that is certainly a choice to be made! Brian did mention on his IG it was a "Back to Humans" tour but I did not expect this. The crown visuals changed into gears visuals, the removal of Innuendo intro at the end already threw me off and the sneak before WATC threw me off again, WATC is still playing as I type this but I don't know what this setlist even was, so surreal lol. Well at least some nice surprises... ish.

@ri, thanks for sharing! I couldn't resist sneaking a peek ahead of time at the setlist for Baltimore. I'll see the band later in Oct. I was honestly hoping that "These are the Days of Our Lives" would be on the setlist, too, like it was for the "Rhapsody over London" livestream in 2022, as part of the European leg. However, it doesn't appear to be the case for the U.S. leg - again. At least I'll look forward to "Is This the World We Created?" It's a new addition to the setlist.

Weird opener, but different! Otherwise, I think, what was to be expected, if in a slightly different order.

At first I couldn't sort out my feelings. But when I cooled down and looked at the video, I realized it wasn't a bad opening. The SE of Machines reminded me of The works tour, Radio Ga Ga and Machine were originally paired on the works album, and as much as I love The works, it was a great production. I also liked that they put Hammer To Fall after it. I believe it was originally mentioned in interviews that Ga Ga and Machines were created from material that came out of the process of writing one or the other. In a way, I think this opening came about because the original members were Brian and Roger. What did you all think?

I just don't quite get why they did half at the beginning and half at the end. And Brian seemed to be the only one doing the hand claps! That said, perhaps the idea is to bookend the show, which would be OK, but I don't like the splitting of WWRY and WATC. They did that on the Magic tour by shoehorning in the dire FWBF, and personally I don't think it worked.

Well 'Machines (or back to humans)' is really a strong title that can be used universally. I do think that the opener screams for Tear It Up like on The Works tour and I think starting with a rocker, even an obscure one, would be better and more exciting. Headlong Breakthru Keep Yourself Alive Ogre Battle Let Me Entertain You Put Out The Fire Princes of The Universe I Was Born To Love You These could work as far as i'm concerned:)

It took a lot of sense to invade it. Radio Ga Ga at QAL has skipped the second half before and it has always stuck with me. Because it reduces the number of times I can do that handclap. Once again, the opening was good, but it's hard to judge whether the idea of splitting Radio Ga Ga itself was the right one.

I slept and woke up and realized this setlist was not just a bad dream 😩 anyway, I just realized they abandoned Now I'm Here which was why I felt they missed something big. As I said I've just woken up, but the original Queen shows always have that since they started using it right?

As I said I've just woken up, but the original Queen shows always have that since they started using it right? Yeah, it's not a 'big' opener, but I guess Hammer To Fall takes care of that? I'm surprised AKOM is somewhat earlier in the set than on the last tour, being quite an effects centerpiece. I don't think it's a bad setlist, but a shame there's only one 'new' song. Hopefully Save Me will get an airing at some point.

Another thing that threw me off... I was told Brian did this version of TYMD in 1998?

Thank you! I really enjoyed this video. The Facebook stream that I listened to last night did actually stop after 1,5 hours - right in the middle of this song. What I realized by watching this is, that you can only see Brian and Adam for most of it and you could think they were sitting just by themselves in an empty room (apart from the fans whom you can hear from time to time 😉). It was beautiful and sounded mostly like the record. Since it‘s the first time that Adam sang it, the difference in his and Freddie’s voice was striking. I used to Freddie voice here, but this rendition is beautiful as well and maybe it will gain power (if that’s even the right term), when Adam has performed it more often. Or maybe it’s just Adam’s lighter version. It was great and I‘m happy they included it. And maybe we will also get Save Me back, sonce it had been on the setlist. But I‘m not sure, if these songs really should be played side by side? Whatever. Better side by side than not at all!

They've changed the start of AKOM a bit. I thought they were going to do the Highlander version until it kicked in. Is the lighting not quite so spectacular as on the last tour?
Also, an observation - Brian seems to be using a different guitar. Perhaps one rigged for the rockets? They seem a little 'bigger' than on the previous tour, so perhaps it wasn't practical to use his normal guitar?

This video shows BoRhap, WWRY, the 2nd (out) sequence of Machines/RGG and WATC.
My impressions: - BoRhap as perfect as it is. (no changes to the last tour) - WWRY: the start had (more) guitar, Adam mixed ab the lyrics in the second verse - Brian is wearing a new cool sparkling with little mirrors kind of suit - the ending sequence with Brian’s guitar solo and him being trapped outside the curtain, facing an armee of walking robots that suddenly vanished (became of the music?) looks epic! - another round of RGG handclaps - WATC: as always the triumphant ending - Adam doesn’t wear a crown for the finale. (Why not? I miss it!) - Everyone looks really happy, especially Brian. - Adam has lost a lot of weight since last year and seems more self-confident. - great crowd
I like the theme with Mashines and RGG coming back at the end. It also reminds me a bit of the musical. But I would try the ending sequence of that behind BoRhap and before the Encore. Let the Encore be the Encore with WWRY/WATC (and let Adam wear his crown 😁).

By the way: The official setlist further above says in the headline „Rehearsal Baltimore V.4“. So maybe this isn’t the setlist from the night and Save Me wasn’t planned from the start? Or they just forgot to change the headline (that wouldn’t be the first time either).

I'm not holding my breath, but a Works box set would be something to look forward to.

Looking at the pics, it suggests Roger had a 'drum duet' with himself...?

AKOM's performance continues to use the green replica model made by Guyton from last year's European tour. In the early days of QAL, it was used in FBG performances for drop tuning. Brian would never have let the Red Special be handled roughly even in the Play the Game mv, so he would never have installed a pyrotechnic launcher 🤣.

What do you think about the new set-up for Killer Queen? Very creative came to my mind first. And also a bit weird to have the frontman singing with the back to the audience into a (fake) mirror (=camera). But I guess it doesn't matter, since the big majority of the audience sees him no matter what much better on the screens.

Looking at the pics, it suggests Roger had a 'drum duet' with himself...? The Montreal clip was shown shortly during the change between Brian finishing 39 and Roger coming up for his solo. He did sit down and played the last few seconds of the final beats with the video before transitioning to his actual solo.

I think it was good! I definitely didn't want Killer Queen to be left out of the setlist because it's a song that suits Adam quite well. I know they've been playing this song for years, but I think it's a quintessential song because they always have a new production for it instead of just continuing to place it in the set-up due to inertia and getting stale.
Performing with your back to the audience seemed somewhat challenging, but you are right, there is nothing wrong with that. That's what Adam Lambert is all about.
