The other irony is that they won't release special editions of albums they don't think the wider public would be interested in, yet Brian is tarting up one of his own solo albums for release. Surely that would be of even less interest to the 'Greatest Hits' brigade? Queen is not retired, but Brian May as a solo artist is essentially "on hiatus". Also Brian "tarting up one of his own solo albums for release" might not be viewed as "flooding the Queen market" by the record companies.
Yes I think the Brian solo stuff is considered his own niche away from the behemoth Queen machine. Let's hope for some interesting cuts. I wonder which record company will be releasing it.

I took another look at their "collector's item" and honestly, I just couldn't fathom collecting four copies of the same cassettes in different colors and cover (or 4 parts of the original cover). I wouldn't even be surprised if they used the same 2011 remasters for this release The 1st one would've been a good idea tbh, but then again, I'm sure they'd find a way to botch that. It was a better idea than what me and a friend of mine came up with though: a replica of the 1st pressing vinyl of GH1, but made to look like it's heavily worn (scratches and all).

This release plan is really really sad. Queen plus AL Live, BM solo Album re-issue, RT solo Album re-issue, GHI re-issue...what the f...?
They have a archive full of interesting stuff, waiting to be released for the aniversary...and we get this crap.

Roger did mention that he was revisiting some of his earlier solo work, but he is releasing a new album this year. Not that there isn't the chance we know half of the tracks already and the rest may not be all that great / new at all, but... As for archival releases, just abandon hope and move on.

Unfortunately, humans make fools of themselves over shiny, coloured things - that's the QPL marketing "strategy"

I think this release could've been based on The Beatles' reissue of "1". That kept the iconic tracklisting but had an interesting DVD/Blu-ray release as has already been suggested for Greatest Hits on here.
Personally I think there could have been a deluxe edition where there is a second disc featuring 17 additional songs from the same time period. I know it wouldn't bring anything new but you could do the same for Greatest Hits II (and include the few Made In Heaven singles) which would make Greatest Hits III unnecessary.

The Beatles have been doing really well with their reissues (the solo stuff as well) in my opinion. The Sgt Pepper/White Album/Abbey Road boxsets are great. I bought the Plastic Ono Band boxset last week, which is great as well. 6 cd's + 2 blu-rays. A comprehensive book with INTERESTING details about the recordings, takes etc. All that for 86 euros incl. postage. Apparently an announcement will be made this week for an upcoming All Things Must Pass box.

Wasn’t there a Queen-branded turntable for sale when they re-released everything on vinyl?

At this point I would have preferred a new studio album with Adam Lambert. I couldn't count on it for creativity but at least it would be more of an effort than this....
Freddie would be incredibly bored by the re-releases coming from Queen Productions....

I remember watching a short behind-the-scenes clip of people working on The Beatles' 1 videos and they were getting rid of ALL the scratches and other marks visible onscreen one frame at the time!
I think the problem is Queen Productions are very protective, they don't have many people working for them and they don't get many others to help with their products. I think this may be part of the reason why they don't go into as much depth with their visual releases.

Absolutely no excuse for not making the Queen archive of videos/films become the best possible quality for future generations, and us now. It would be what the creative output of the band deserves and a lasting legacy. In the long run I'm sure QPL/Universal would earn more profit, as that is no doubt their aim. Cost is no excuse for a multi-million pounds operation. The more I think about this latest release the more pee'd off I am getting.

Considering how much they touted themselves as pioneering MTV Queen has been surprisingly – and irritatingly – lackadaisical towards their promo videos.

It is obviously a record company decision with the blessings of Queen productions. I think they might have not the original videos - films...
Anyway this re^release comes from a band who never compromised 🤣😂

Then maybe nice new stereo mixes of the first albums or at least of Rubber Soul and Revolver.

Apparently it will also be VERY expensive. On the SHF they're talking about 600+ pounds. I hope that's some kind of super deluxe edition with art and stuff and that there'll also be a "just audio with a book" version. Fingers crossed for a 5.1 mix!

Talking about artists and bands who do deliver great content and boxsets makes me instantly feel alot better. Talking about Queen releases makes me sad and angry.
