17 years ago. You didn't bought the fabulous "Live At The Rainbow '74" set? For me that was the last release that really excited me, aside from the Raw sessions disc on the NOTW boxset. Same. Those are the only two Queen products I've bought since "Bowl" in 2004.
I skipped out on Hammersmith because there was one new song from soundcheck. Same goes for the 2011 remasters, with only 1-2 interesting new tracks per disc at most - not nearly enough to justify the coin. Oh come on, that's totally unfair. You got a box as well if you bought them all. 😄 |

i saw that this morning.. wanted to see what the reaction on it would have been. i mean, they could have added colored discs... or maybe a a colored GH boxset including GH II and III (which would have upset a lot of poeople) but for the collectors among us, might not be a bad idea - especially if they added a nice book to go with it.... but a f**king slipcase? why.
full pass on the all these GH re-releases... which seem to be aimed at collectors. at least i have the BTTL reissue to look forward to.

Ideas that would've made a GH reissue nicer: Reinstate the original skewed photo (that screams of 1981) and perhaps each 'face' cassette features the different tracklistings that GH had around the world EG Japanese, US, OZ etc. so nice little extras in the shape of "Love of My Life" (live version), "Spread Your Wings", "Teo Torriatte", "Tie Your Mother Down",
"Death On Two Legs" "Sweet Lady", "Under Pressure" are dotted around the sets. A bit more collectory no?

I don't want to be Devil's advocate, but I think any kind of Greatest hits album is a record company decision.
Queen's GH has been re-re dozen times by the record company since it is very good seller.
Queen productions Ltd are the good kids, they never compromise.. . 😂🤣
I wish they had balls like Roger Waters.

They even advertised this on TV last night. 'EMI presents Queen's Greatest Hits' Was a canny advert, but even stated UK's best ever selling album. Who is left to buy it and why create a TV advert for it?

I just GLADLY spent $250 on an insane Metallica Black Album box set and yet Queen give us THIS?
What a world we are in where I would almost beg to throw money at them (that I don't have) for a set anywhere near as comprehensive...

My local JB Hi-Fi is selling the new Greatest Hits with the slipcase, but instead of doing an Aussie pressing they just imported them from the Czech Republic. This sadly means The Platinum Collection is out-of-print, despite being the superior slipcase set.
